BN: What’s your take on the David Haye situation?

FW: I don’t think he had a back problem with the alleged back injury I think he had a Setanta problem. He asked for the money up front and they wouldn’t pay him. I know that for a fact.

NB David Haye and Adam Booth deny this is the case and he is due back in England next week for physiotherapy on the back injury that they claim forced his withdrawal.

Clearly i dont need to explain to anyone the possible motives of Fwank for making such comments and the real possibility that the comments are absolutely disingenuous, but its an interesting point and would appear to tie in with Haye making such statements through Sky and not Setanta.
This is typical of Frank. You just know if it the shoe was on the other foot he would be sueing Haye for defamation of character!!
Frank said last week that he'd "heard" DH asked Setanta for a 7 figure payday, up front, before the back injury cropped up. He also says that no way will Haye risk his chin in a 10 rounder, before getting his title shot. I'd guess he's probably correct in both statements.

Booth and Haye must be kicking themselves over this - the shot at Wlad is up in smoke, and now they are being offered Vitali instead. And NO WAY do they want the much tougher older brother.
But he's between a rock and hard place now, and may just have to take it.

I don't think he'll take any risky warm ups either. Behind the scenes, I'll bet they are still franticaly trying to get Wlad back on board.

Yes, Klitschko is huge there, 11 million people watched him fight Chagaev on TV in Germany alone. Most of the people who bought tickets probably knew nothing of Haye, but his supporters like to think the big gate was just because of him. Wlad will sell out any German arena or stadium he fights in.

Well why don't they then for every fight he has never sold anywhere near that many tickets before there were a awful lots of Brits at the chagaev fight and they were no there to see Wlad.
Haye is a huge draw and the biggest fight out there for the Klitchsko's

If haye is a huge draw, how come he couldn't sell out the O2 arena then in front of his home crowd. It was barely half full and they were selling tickets 2 for 1.

There wouldn't have been more than 5000 people travelling over to see him fight haye from the UK. If Haye isn't a draw in his own country, then how do you figure he is drawing german fans into the Arena.

Haye is good to watch and an explosive puncher, but he simply does not have the drawing power you are suggesting yet.

The next Klitchsko fight without Haye will have a Max of 20,000 fans imo, it's time for some people to wake up Haye is the main draw here or at the very least he is Wlads equal,

The attendance figures have been pretty good for most of Wlad's fights - for example:
v Byrd 14,000
v Jefferson 7,800
v Shufford 4,500
v Botha 10,500
v Mercer 3,000
v McCline 6,580
v Sanders 11,500
v Brock 10,500
v Austin 15,000
v Brewster 19,500
v Rahman 10,000
v Chagaev 61,000

Well explain to me then why Wlad has never sold more that 20,000 tickets before? was it to much effort for them to print the extra 50,000 tickets for all his other resent fights ?.
Haye sold that fight almost on his own, of cause there would have been more Wlad fans than Haye fans but they were all there to see Haye vs Wlad a fight with massive hype because as you said yourself "Haye is good to watch and an explosive puncher" this in it's self contrary to what you have said why is brings Huge drawing power to the fight.

Boxing is about money and the figures don't lie, neither of the Klitchsko's will ever sell that many tickets again imo unless they fight Haye or each other.

No actually - you explain to me why if Haye is such a MASSIVE draw that the O2 was half empty. Surely if he's a massive draw then his greatest drawing power would be at home. I was at Haye v Thompson, and that was only about a third full.

The reason for the attendance figures I think was the fact that it was staged in a sporting town, with a big stadium and tickets were very reasonably priced. If you live down the road from a football stadium and there's a world heavyweight title fight for 30 quid, wouldn't you be tempted to go?

This is not a knock on Haye, I love Haye's attitude, he has marbles the size of the elgin marbles. However, the largest audience for a Haye fight was against Enzo and Mormeck, and on both occasions he was fighting in an area where his opponent or someone else on the bill was the main draw.

Evidence for Haye's huge mass appeal does not exist.

Yes, that really was utter, utter, utter shite wasn't it? Fight a 6ft 8inch jab master on the outside? Tool.

Just be clear my definition of being a big Draw is that you bring something to the table for example Ricky Hatton will always be a huge draw because of his popularity with the fans, win lose or draw (The people's champion if you like).

David Haye is different he is a hugely exciting fighter (Most unlike Wlad) you never know what will happen in his fights, he may not be as popular as a Ricky Hatton but put him in with Wlad and the ticket sales go through the roof.

Do you really think that Wlad vs Chagaev would have sold 65,000 tickets ? and also why did HBO drop the fight when Haye pulled out, All i am saying the fight sold so many tickets because Haye and Wlad were in it.

Its all about money, they brought down the ticket price in order to get more punters in. Just because they never thought of doing that before, doesn't mean it's all down to his fighting Haye.

I agree to an extent with your statement. Certainly people are more interested in Wlad v Haye in Germany, they want to see Wlad tested, but it is Wlad they are still going to see.

HBO dropped it because the yanks don't much care for Wlad - I never said he was a draw in the US. German fight fans don't seem to mind snorefests. They loved Ottke, and he was boring as hell.

What's that got to do with it. If Nelson is so experienced he should know better than to suggest standing off a behemoth like Wlad who likes to jab off the back foot.

the reason the O2 arena was half empty for Haye Brock was the ticket prices. £175 for a lower tier ticket. You wouoldnt get mum, dad and little claus going to that for a hot dog and a coke.

thought darkey virtually let it slip in the commentary on saturday.

he said something along the lines of when they get the money together for that fight.

ive never really seen klitschko struggle, haye i have in fragomeni the norwegian & mormeck where he was on the brink of defeat :!: i mean how would mormeck do in the heavies
all this talk on tickets they was giving tickets away @ the o2.
haye really did pull out all stops in promoting this fight,as he wants recognition if he pulls it off.

I think to be fair i never want to see a fighter pull out of a fight unless he's injured but in this case if he is faking a back injury then its fair enough. setanta has screwed up i was going to pay the £30 quid i owe them for not topping up my card, but when u cant even pay an outstanding bill u know their screwed. he probably wouldnt have got paid and alot of people wouldnt have even got to see the fight.

They have sod all on setanta the odd premiership game, the UFC and about 1 decent boxing match a year, the rest is IPL and SPL and some stupid golf tournament like the idaho open or some bollocks.
