Not boxing I know but I think the British Relay team did outstanding considering none got into a sprint final.
Kelly Holmes is just the best female athlete Iv seen in a long time. If the other British athletes showed half the amount of heart she did we would be doing very well.

On a side note though, I found it funny that people were saying "I told you Michael Johnson that Campbell's injury was legit". However, if Campbell had torn a hamstring, he would still be f'd. If anything its even more proof that factors such as Acclimatisation was a factor in his dissopointing games.
Kelly, is running so smart. I have followed athletics (as my mate runs for Wales) extensively and generally even the world class female middle distance runners are poor at running even pace, which is key to success. Kelly showed that. Got some money on her pre games about her doing the 1,500. However, I thought Mutola would have been to strong at the 800.
Gutted for Wilson Kipkitier tonight though, one of my all time hero's. I wanted him to win so badly because Brendan Foster said in 2000 that he would be too old by Athens. I still think he is the best 800 metre runner, but just time it well enough.
Also gutted for Matt Elias in the 4 x 400, he is such a racer. Unfortunately, he was looking at Silver, when he should have been focusing on consolidating the Bronze. He will learn from that though.

Why is it that the danish athletes cant win anything other than bronze medals? So far we have won 7 medals, 1 gold and 6 bronze (we will get a gold or silver tomorrow since our female handball team are in the fina, it will be live on Eurosport from 08.45 (and on 2 danish channels also, the famalehandball team are as big as our male national team in football))
I felt for Elias as well, he's a really nice kid. I knew his Dad who was also an excellent athlete and a GB International. I was surprised at what seemed a lack of support from the other relay members. He was still lying prone on the track while the rest of them were being interviewed by Sally Gunnell. Even his former Cardiff club-mate Tim Benjamin barely stopped short of pointing the finger at Elias.
This is his second relatively disappointing season and he needs to decide whether his event is 400m, 800m or 400m Hurdles. I'm sure he'll bounce back.

very disappointing, they only were 13th despite being one of the favorites (sports illustrated predicted that they would get a bronze medal) They won one race but they just fucked up too many times. They said tham selves that it was disappointing. On a live interview on national television our crownprince called them "the 49er girls" (49er is the boat class), we couldnt stop laughing, but my friend and his skipper didnt think it was funny.

He wanted glory a bit too much last night, should have forgot about the Silver when the Aussie went through, but hey - I don't blame him and nor should his team mates - who behaved terribly, they should have supported him and got him on his feet.
On a side note, anybody here the comments made by Darren Campbell since his gold medal performance. I'm sorry but they were nothing short of disagraceful. Okay, I'm sure he feels aggrivated at some of the comments - but to rub it in to Colin Jackson that he's got a gold medal and he hasn't was way over the top. Great achievement by the boys, but it was only a team gold - Colin Jackson's world record has stood for over 10 years (although its now been tied). The guy is a legend of the sport.
Not only that, but Colin helped Darren alot through the years when both were training with Linford Christie. I'm sure it was Colin's idea to get the base going in Cardiff. Even if Colin didn't directly help Campbell (although I'm sure he did) he certainly helped Linford, who has coached Campbell.

As Michael Johnson said, if Campbell had torn his hamstring a few days before the start of the competition, he would barely be able to walk now.
