v Samuel Peter
v Lamon Brewster
v Corrie Sanders 1

He lost the last two and struggled a lot against Peter who Vitali outclassed
dude he got blitzed against sanders & was giving brewster a pasting till he ran out of gas from nowhere, aint bad for 40 odd fights at heavy is it??
didnt haye get smashed to the canvas & get up on rubbery legs from a super middle in lolenga mock???you need to you tube it
the 3 guy's you have all mentioned have had world titles, not saying they are great but greatly better then the people haye has struggled with & imo better then haye.

Personally I can't wait to see Haye get done. I suspect he won't last one round against either Klitschko, which will make all his garbage talk look ridiculous. I would not be surprised to see him wobbling within 30 seconds when Wladdy hits him with a snappy jab. He's not going to be able to get away from Wladdys jab. His only chance is to absolutely blitz Vlad from the word go and hope he gets lucky. Wlad tends to wait until the fourth round to throw a right hand.

id love to see haye do it,but know he aint got the toughness there.

he struggled with thompson putting him under pressure,he was digging deep v mormeck who was doing very little back.i think even buncey has lost his touch with reality with haye, i suppose knowing him from a young lad@ the lodge & being from sarf, overules his head which is getting lighter with all this sentanta graft :DDD

Haye can't beat Wladimir. While I wish he could, he wouldn't be able to. The punch that dropped Chagaev, would have kayoed Haye. It would have been over in the 2nd round for Haye, had it been him.

But Chagaev was so predictable. Apart from a little bit of weaving with his head, he tried to walk Wlad down. Wrong tactic. Haye will go in there throwing bombs from different angles. He would put Wlad under pressure, something which Chagaev didn't do.

The obvious question is though, whilst David Hayes "throwing bombs" what will Wlad be doing. Its easy to say "he'll just go in and throw bombs" but he'll have to get close enough first, what will he eat whilst trying to do that. Intriguing contest.

Yeah, it's intriguing, not a foregone conclusion like HH basically said. Haye will need to get inside, but I reckon when Wlad is faced with youth, power, aggression, angles and speed then he will be nervous, and thus make mistakes.

I think it's a mistmatch personally. Wlad has faced bigger punchers than Haye and beaten them. His losses to Brewster and purity were due to bad stamina more than bad punch resistance. Sanders walloped him good and it would have taken a lot of fighters out. Those losses have made Wlad a BETTER fighter in my opinion. Haye will be a lot smaller, especially in reach. While I expect Haye to try with a few right hands, I can only see him getting jabbed to pieces (he's not really an all out agressive fighter) and when he does try to come in and nail Wlad a right hand will be waiting for him.

Haye has no advantages in the fight. I wouldn't even say he is much faster than Wlad. His chin is WAY inferior to Wlads. Wlad has a better jab, footwork, movement, RIGHT HAND, taller etc. I could go on.

Its really a mismatch of epic proportions. There is a reason why people give Haye 0% chance against Vitali and that's because of Vitali's chin. The only reason people think Haye might have a shot with Wlad is because Wlad's chin is pretty poor. However, in terms of boxing ability and experience, Wlad is MILES ahead.

You really believe Wlad is going to let go of his right-hand early? I don't think so. Watch that fight again on Saturday. Wlad only throws his right when he knows he can't be hit back with a counter. And Wlad's jab might put Haye over but knock him out clean?

on the other hand, do you really believe Daveyboy is going to get all brave once he eats a couple of those jabs? wlad's jab doesn't need to knock him over, though it could do. all Wlad needs to do is make Haye realise he can't take his power, at all. and all that talk of Haye putting pressure on Wlad would be so much hot air.

seems to me, you're going awfully one-sided in your prediction, on a fight with two chinny fighters in it. difference between them is wlad has massive reach, real commitment to the jab, great distancing. his reach advantage means he doeasn't have to make any moves that put him in harm's way. the jab and its excellence menas the onus is on Haye to make the mistakes and get inside.

by the way i love this talk of haye putting pressure on him and using angles. it's like we have 88 era Tyson in our midst, now remind me how many fights Haye has won at heavyweight with his excellent pressure fighting tactics......?

oh, he hasn't, that's right. it (his pressure fighting ability) is then, as yet, at best, unproven. especially at heavyweight.

i do think its worth pointing out that you think his best bet is to fight a strategy that he's never used before, certainly not at Heavyweight. i mean you could say i suppose vs Mormeck he gave him angles, worked the body etc. Mormeck's reach, though, is about 72" and his footwork poor. getting inside on him and Wlad are totally different things.

never mind, i suppose there is always the chance he could morph magically into a taller faster Frazier but without the chin, pretty much overnight, without actually practising or demonstrating any of these skills in the professional ring......

I think it's a mistmatch personally.
That's silly. Haye has a massive puncher's chance no matter what anyone says
Wlad has faced bigger punchers than Haye and beaten them.
He has also been put down 11 times as a heavyweight, with some of them KD's coming at the hands of boxers less skilled than David Haye.
His losses to Brewster and purity were due to bad stamina more than bad punch resistance.
Wlad is as chinny as Haye. Look at the Peter KDs, the Parnell KD and the Sanders' FIGHT.
Sanders walloped him good and it would have taken a lot of fighters out.
Apart from the south-paw stance, Haye is quite a lot like Sanders, in terms of abilities.
Those losses have made Wlad a BETTER fighter in my opinion.
Spot on, but he can't improve his chance. And Wlad falls back a lot with his chin up, arms hovering - Haye can reach Wlad's chin with his speed and angles.
Haye will be a lot smaller, especially in reach.
2" isn't the end of the world. Brewster, Parnell, Peter and Sanders had a smaller reach than Haye but still put Wlad down and in trouble.
While I expect Haye to try with a few right hands, I can only see him getting jabbed to pieces (he's not really an all out agressive fighter)

Are you serious? Haye not an aggressive fighter? A 95% KO rate suggests otherwise.
and when he does try to come in and nail Wlad a right hand will be waiting for him.
That's the beauty of not trying to walk Wlad down. You might perhaps take it to the inside and work the body.
Haye has no advantages in the fight.
I assume you was drunk when you wrote this bit so I will excuse it.
I wouldn't even say he is much faster than Wlad.
Ditto, the same as above.
His chin is WAY inferior to Wlads.
Both are chinny. The same I would say is fair.
Wlad has a better jab,
Best jab in the game, darling.
footwork, movement,
Wlad is mechanic. He does the same as he as always done. Falls back with his chin up - Haye's forte.
RIGHT HAND,
One straight right? And he would'nt throw it. I have never seen him throw an instinctive right-hand.
taller
A lot of guys are smaller than Wlad and some have still put him over/knocked him out.
etc. I could go on.
Feel free
Its really a mismatch of epic proportions.
Ignorance of epic proportions. Look at the odds for that fight - the bookies hardly get it wrong but 7/2 isn't mismatch material, mate.
There is a reason why people give Haye 0% chance against Vitali and that's because of Vitali's chin.
You're right, Haye stands little chance versus Vitali.
The only reason people think Haye might have a shot with Wlad is because Wlad's chin is pretty poor. However, in terms of boxing ability and experience, Wlad is MILES ahead.
But the better boxers don't always win fights. Haye as power and speed - that gives him a massive chance versus Wlad regardless of what people say.

David is a brave fighter and a clever guy. For the Mormeck fight, Booth and Haye worked on Haye getting knocked down. I expected the same here as well. If Wlad's jab put him down, I reckon Haye wouldn't be mentally knocked out. And that's assuming Wlad's jab is enough to have him over. I just can't see Wlad being brave enough to throw a right knowing that if he missed, Haye would probably land. It would be Corrie Sanders all over again. It would be an intriging fight, not a mismatch of epic proportions.
Counter-puncher wrote:difference between them is wlad has massive reach, real commitment to the jab, great distancing. his reach advantage means he doeasn't have to make any moves that put him in harm's way. the jab and its excellence menas the onus is on Haye to make the mistakes and get inside.
Wlad's not as good as people think and is so beatable. Two punches he has in his whole arsenal - the jab and a straight right. Wlad doesn't face people who he really fears. Chagaev was the epitome of Wlad's recent opponents. He let Wlad work at his own pace flicking the jab out - it's the same with people like Rahman and Thompson. Povetkin will be the same too. Go forward, not planting their feet and being picked off. Yes, there's an excellent chance Haye can lose this but my argument is merely being positive. I am a realist, if Haye gets hit clean with a right, then it's goodnight, but I doubt Wlad will throw a right unless he can predict what comes back. If anything, Haye isn't as predictable as the fodder Wlad's used to and if Haye puts him under a bit of pressure, I could see Wlad capitulating. He simply hypervantalates when a pucnh is being thrown, but it's usually by a fat, slow heavyweight with no punhc. Haye is very different and has a chance.
Counter-puncher wrote:by the way i love this talk of haye putting pressure on him and using angles. it's like we have 88 era Tyson in our midst, now remind me how many fights Haye has won at heavyweight with his excellent pressure fighting tactics......?
By using angles I meant not ploughing forward into Wlad's jab like Chagaev, Thompson, Ibragimov and company did. Haye will use more angles, throw the hook after covering up. And when Wlad dips his head back, clobber him. Poor example, but that's exactly what Haye did with Maccarinelli. To say you haven't seen him throw angles, especially at heavyweight is wrong, at best. Look at the Barrett fight, some of the KDs come from below Barrett's head, from the side and over the top. He also did it numerous times as crusierweight, hence why Haye has HARDLY, if ever, lost to an upright European. Amateur or professional.

The problem is that Haye is simply not going to be able to get past the jab. He will find himself eating jabs and I don't see how he is going to get past Wlads jab. Also, knowing Haye has been put down regularly and hurt badly against Lolenga Mock, we know that Wlad can hurt Haye cleanly with a solid jab (which Haye is not going to be able to avoid). So its pretty much a given that Haye gets hurt early on in the fight. Wlad is going to be safety first and won't be taking any chances but Wlad could probably win the fight with his jab alone.

You say their chins are similar... I don't think so.

The only chance Haye has, is a punchers chance. That's it. He can't outbox or outwork Wlad, he has to draw him into a war (not happening).

That's why we see Haye trying to taunt Wlad into going to war with him. Unfortunately for Haye, he is going to get taken out embarrassingly in the fight. I just hope its a right hand, rather than a jab, that KOs him.

Errr... about none, but still, there's no harm in speculating why I think Haye has the ability to knock Wlad over. If he had a poor record against those type of fighters then that's a negative. Him having a good record can only be a positive thing.

And in this thread, please tell me where I have stated that Haye will win beyond a shadow of a doubt. I haven't. All I have done is give justifications on why this fight isn't a mismatch, like someone before me eloquently put it.

Jeez.

Good God, then it's not a mismatch of epic proportions if Haye has a puncher's chance then, is it? And why do you think Haye has to drag Wlad into a war before knocking him out? His flings his chin back - that's Haye's best chance at taking him out.

Hayes going to be eating that jab for a couple of rounds. When Wlad starts to get confident. We'll start to see that right, smash down on Hayes chin a couple of times a round. Around the 5th, Haye gets KO'd

Haye has a punchers chance. I think Wlad wins this fight 9/10 times. Vitali 10/10.

dioufy chagaev is a talented box-fighter who couldnt get the measure of klit.

your talking on a guy at 20 defeated the great felix savon,& made it to many finals.
didnt haye give up to savons 3rd rate replacement??
like hank said haye wouldnt of got of the floor & it wouldnt take a right hand to get him there either.

monte barret a non puncher had haye in trouble by just clipping him.

Chagaev is a top fighter, but it's different horses for courses. Chagaev didn't possess one thing that would give Klit problems. He was small, slow, not a great reach and doesn't have a massive punch. Haye has most of that stuff, and could give Klit nightmares, or he could be sparked out cold. It's an intruiging fight.

Povetkin will be the same as Chagaev. Top fighter, but will be stopped by Wlad. Haye is a completely different fighter from them two. Chagaev may well beat Haye, as Povetkin may do, but Haye's strength is probably Wlad's weakness - that gives him a chance. Speed, power, youth and all-out aggresion.

Just my opinion, lads.

i agree with what your saying, haye's speed & power is a threat for all but 3rds,i saw in the barret fight how he slowed up & was dragging his shots out, haye's stamina & durability have been exposed before & will be again imo.
he does have a chance when you look how sanders got wlad out of there, but then i rated the s.african highly..he went stateside & fought anyone.
he was also a very quick SOUTHPAW who's attacks are much more sustainable then haye's who loads up & lunges.
spanking enzo & 2 bum heavyweights doesnt put you in contention.

I agree to a certain extent. If Haye ploughs forward against the likes of a Chagaev, Vitali and most other heavyweights then he will get put down, like he did against Barrett. But Wladimir hyperventalates when under pressure and doesn't throw right-hands. Can you ever say you have seen an instinctive right-hand from Wlad? I can't. He only throws it when he can predict what is coming back, if anything does come back. Haye's not going to be the best heavyweight ever, but I believe that just maybe, he has Wlad's number. And just to point out, in this thread, I have only argued that Haye has a decent chance, and I was disputing a claim that this fight is a "mismatch of epic proportions," which it very clearly wasn't. Yes, Haye might get spanked, but to me, Haye had a massive chance to spank Wlad.
