Hatton - Dusseldorf
Saw Ricky Hatton out on the lash on Friday night in Dusseldorf.
He was in a cocktail bar on the main strip in the old town at about 01.30. Well minced if the truth be told. Seemed to be enjoying himself though. Fair play, drinking with the rabble and not going for the special treatment.
He was fairly approachable, but kept it short. Suppose the last thing he wants is semi wasted boxing fans hassling him all night.
Good onya Hatton.

Yep good on ya Ricky 'one of the lads', 'people's champion', 'pound for pound No.1'
Re: Hatton - Dusseldorf
Some of the scouse lads who post on here met him in a bar over there on saturday
Re: Hatton - Dusseldorf
Saw him on Friday as well, and I can confirm he was completely arseholed.
Was in the same bar as us on Saturday night with a group of his mates. He wasn't that pissed then, so we asked for a picture, and he obliged. Top bloke, and his mates were sound as well.

I saw him upstairs by the bars (of course) at the fight. I reckon he has put on about 2 stone in the last 7 weeks.
I didn't notice him sitting in our UK section but other people saw him there and i heard the 'only one Ricky Hatton' chant go up at one point when others noticed him.
Very surprised he didn't get himself a ringside seat with the complimentary drinks...

I also did the old 'Theres something on your shirt' trick, and flicked him in his face. Later on I told him City were shite.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Nice arm round the shoulder. Liberty taking at its best.kevo wrote:Saw him on Friday as well, and I can confirm he was completely arseholed.

He gave me a bit of a slap, it was all in good fun. The state he was in, i'm confident I could have taken him!!
Re: Hatton - Dusseldorf
It sounds as if he's been on one hell of a binge. If it's true about him putting on two stone then I wonder whether he can make light welter again. He isn't getting any younger and his motivation has took a massive hit. I think he will retire.
Re: Hatton - Dusseldorf
I think either the MEN or Millennium stadium will see Hatton come out for a last hurrah late this year or early next.

Yes, I know that, but has he been on a binge that has lasted so long though - it must be close to two months and he's shown no signs of giving up. Plus, before the Pacquiao defeat he still had that burning ambition that helped him do his weight - he even admitted that becoming P4P champ was the only thing he felt was left to do. That won't happen now. I think that defeat has ruined him - look how he's talking about the Khan fight - "I don't want to put my family through what happened against Pacman again".mickey1975 wrote:ricky often puts on two/three stone between bouts.dont take this as a lack of ambitionDioufy wrote:It sounds as if he's been on one hell of a binge. Re: Hatton - Dusseldorf
If he does fight again I'd recommend a rematch with Pacman. Ricky was unlucky and fought the wrong tactics. He can beat Pacman. Then I'd recommend that he goes after PBF. BUT Joe Cortez shouldn't be the ref. If Cortez isn't the ref, I think Ricky can do Mayweather. The ref had a big effect on that fight. After he beats them he'll be pound for pound number 1. I'd then like to see him fight Mosley. Mosley is way too old now and with Rickys pressure he can get to him and stop him late. After that, I think Ricky should finish off by fighting Cotto. This should be a hard fight for Ricky but I think Cotto would capitulate like he did against Margarito. Ricky is more skilled than Margarito and will keep the pressure on til Cotto quits again. If Ricky wants one more fight after that, I'd like to see him fight Paul Williams. Williams is too big for 147 and would be weight drained and wouldn't be able to keep up with Rickys pressure style. I see Ricky stopping him with body shots.
