Sky IMO will only be interested in David Haye himself - so whether David likes it or not - he is going to have to get active to get the other boxers on his promotional firm active too!!!

I know that mate - but Haye is not wanting to fight that often to keep his lads active enough on undercards!!!

Haye is only interested in BIG fights - where his lads are wanting to be in learning fights and more importantly to be kept active with at least 4/5 fights a year!!!

If Haye beats one of he robots he will fight 2 times a year max. If he loses we may never see him again. Prospects need to be out 5 times a year. I can't see too many other promoters wanting to help build up fighters like Price, Groves and the kid from Peterboro if they are not going to have them lock, stock and barrel.

Well Setanta have gone into administration, so that is all the money gone out of the deal with Hayemaker, where does that leave the boxers?

Hard for Hayemaker to pay the money without a tv deal in place, maybe ESPN will buy up the options, they have already got the premiership football rights

Got to feel a bit sorry for Magee here. He gave up the title (he didn't have to) and he is now losing a chance to fight for it again.

As a more general point, it's kind of worrying just how bad things are- fights getting pulled because TV stations have gone bust- this could really have a knock on effect on the sport itself.

Yeah I stupidly came on here last week and said this would go ahead because they needed to still get people like Price, Groves and McNally fighting.
Tyson Fury is out there making a name for himself and in the same period as Price has had 3 fights, plus he pulled out of one and will fight once more (at least) before Price.
I don't think it's good that someone like Price should be so inactive considering that he was at a decent standard with the amateurs and should be breezing through the British ranks.

I agree, but i'm guessing that the contracts the boxers have signed would have a minimum purse garuntee, and without a tv deal Hayemaker wouldn't make the promotion financially viable.

Yeah but Dave Coldwell has plenty of experience and with the backing of Goldenboy you wouldn't think they would do anything stupid regarding overpaying etc.

Especially in these credit crunch times. Even though there have been economic experts saying "I'll give them 18 months tops" when they signed those rediculous EPL and SPL deals... Hayemaker has been very UNLUCKY. Their just one of several companies/sports that are going to suffer cause of this and were not directly involved.

Lets not forget, even though most experienced UK boxing promoter thought Setanta were a secure investment - and had Haye not got into promoting, would be up shit creek himself now.
