will mitchell ever defend his title?

Post by sgtcecil »

this may have been discussed before but when will kevin mitchell ever defend his title or vacate it?
he won in in march 2008 and has fought twice since then but never a defence? why hasn't the BBBofC done anything about it?

Would like to see him fight Martinez that would be a very exciting fight Mitchell said his hand is better so he should stay active now. Think Martinez is the best option :box:

They have him down for an 8 rounder, not sure who the opponent is , probably someone like Pzlopdez Grdizomovicsk

Think Mitchell should maybe move on to Hennesy Sports or Maloney to keep busy etc. Warren seems to have put Mitchell on the shelf and made him stagnent now he's got the olympians, and while he's concentrating on Khan etc. With Hennesy and Maloney they seem to keep all their top fighters busy and move them forward, I dont think Mitchell would have gone this long without a defence if he was with either of them. I've even heard a rumour that they have took him of the July bill now so someone else can go on it!...I just hope that this talented fighters career doesn't get wasted and flash before his eyes.

I wish it was a joke! He is reigning British Champion, but can expect to be matched up with some foreign nobody for a totally meaningless 8 rounder, which as with all boxing matches carries a risk that he will injury himself.

Mitchell is targeting a WBO title which means he has to stay with Warren, if he left know he wouldn't be able to get the Martinez fight(that'd go to Burns) and he'd have to try and build his way up with one of the other organisations.
