We all know that Maskaev is just a name there waiting to pull out, followed by lining up a total waster of an opponent for Williams to destroy. I'm sick of this now, if this does happen and Maskaev pulls out then a bum is put in the ring with Danny, then as much as I like Williams, I hope he gets his ass kicked.

I posted about Maskaev vs Williams on a US forum, alot of American and Canadian posters predicted that this fight wouldn't happen. This was not because of who was promoting it, but because other promoters have often branded Maskaev's name as an opponent only for the fight not to go ahead.

Why does that not surprise me? Now we'll be fed a load of bullshit about why it didn't happen, then Williams will destroy a crap fighter like Alfred Cole. British boxing is going down the pan, this year has been a total nightmare for Britain's top fighters, except for Danny's win over Tyson. Calzaghe had a golden opportunity against Glen Johnson which would have been an exciting fight where Joe stepped up in weight and attempted to take the LHW division by storm. Of course, the fight never happened and now he's looking for another pathetic foreign nobody to defend his Super middleweight title against. Then there's Ricky Hatton, same old story, no big fights. All year we've been promised a big fight but it will never happen - withdrawing Hatton as Harris's mandatory just about sums it up.
