I hope not i rate McCloskey highly. I think he'll smash M'Baye to bits.chris s wrote:Perhaps the Irish kid is out of the Mbaye fight and Lynes is in

i guess lynes would be an obvious replacement if mcclosky is out.I think hed have a good chance, thought he was unlucky against branco in italy

Re: colin lynes in paris?
mbaye is overrated imo
Re: colin lynes in paris?
Thats not logical at all because Lynes would beat M'baye and then Mc Closkey would have to fight Lynes again even though he demolished him for 7 of 9 rounds and ultimately made him retire on his stool.
Re: colin lynes in paris?
yep that would not be a good situation. Can anyone confirm if mcclosky is actually out?brian13 wrote:Thats not logical at all because Lynes would beat M'baye and then Mc Closkey would have to fight Lynes again even though he demolished him for 7 of 9 rounds and ultimately made him retire on his stool.
Re: colin lynes in paris?
McCloskey hasn't been answering his phone at all in the lead up to this bout. I didn't think much of it and put it down to an intense secret training camp until you mentioned this. Could something be going on?
Re: colin lynes in paris?
CAN LYNES WIN??????????
Re: colin lynes in paris?
yeah mbaye will get jabbed for twelve rounds
Re: colin lynes in paris?
Mbaye is style wise all wrong for Lynes... but I think he SHOULD have too much for him, I would be confident if it was in the UK.
Lynes needs to follow the Gavin Rees formula, which Barrie Jones used very effectively. Educated pressure throwing lots of punches.
Mbaye has a good jab and it still world class when up against a non pressure fighter. Ngougdjio tried to outbox Mbaye and failed on my card.

Re: colin lynes in paris?
yeah, colin is a much better fighter technically than rees but gavin fought well against mbaye and that style - getting in, throwing lots of punches and getting out again - was perfect to cause the upset. its just that i cannot see lynes fighting like that. he will trust in that left jab to break mbaye down. this will not be as effective as the rees ploy so its going to be close. plus its in paris. lynes has to learn from the branco defeat that you leave nothing to chance in the other guys back yard which it will be in effect.
finally, i was ringside for colin's loss to mcclosky and both me and my dad - a good boxing analyst - thought that performance showed maybe lynes was no longer in love with the sport. if this is the case it'll be a decent payday but another defeat that a year ago he would have won.

Cant believe you think colin is anything but a consumate proffesional , shame on you.harrygreb wrote:yeah, colin is a much better fighter technically than rees but gavin fought well against mbaye and that style - getting in, throwing lots of punches and getting out again - was perfect to cause the upset. its just that i cannot see lynes fighting like that. he will trust in that left jab to break mbaye down. this will not be as effective as the rees ploy so its going to be close. plus its in paris. lynes has to learn from the branco defeat that you leave nothing to chance in the other guys back yard which it will be in effect.
