Dozens of articles by me, dozens and sometimes hundreds of articles by others - a roster of almost a hundred present and past writers - all gone. Nobody got paid a penny for their admirable efforts and now they don't even have proof that their work even existed.

Meanwhile Kevin is currently ignoring requests for further information. The last he told me was that it was a server problem and nothing to do with Ian leaving. (A big coincidence, but so was the Setanta/Haye/Klitschko/Valuev/Chagaev situation - make of it what you will). When expressing concerns about losing my work (and other people's), Kevin pointed out that he had lost stuff too, and seemingly that was justification enough for not pressing the issue!

Now, I don't know the full story and I'm not going to throw out accusations without being informed. But I'm p!ssed off about this and I think the other ex-BBN writers should be too. If we accept Kevin's explanation that it was his host that buggered it up, then we have to press HIM to press THEM to do something about it. Whoever's fault it is, it's a fcking disgrace that literally hundreds if not thousands of articles over many years have just dropped off the face of the earth. Somebody has to be held responsible.

Fair enough if it was something beyond Kevin's control, but if I was him in this situation, I would be doing my very best to rectify things for the sake of the dozens of other people who had given me their best efforts for free for years. Yes, Kevin has lost more work than anyone else, but that is hardly the point.

Kevin, if you're reading this, I'm sorry to put this in the public domain, but I do feel strongly about this. If I have got it wrong and you are working on the issue, then fair enough, but you have not been keeping us informed. As it stands, there's a black hole where our work used to be. If all is lost and it's not your fault, just be upfront about it, show some contrition and give us the facts. An occasional woe-is-me Facebook status update does not cut it!

Its not often we agree - on this issue I completely agree with you!!!

The way "it seems" Kevin is treating the very people who worked so tirelessly for him is not very good for his reputation and in addition it does not bode well for the future especially when he has such a large gap to fill with "The Smoggie" and "Shaggy" no longer do their bit for him - I am serious McNeilly and Dooley although we had numerous spats were simply outstanding - they provided a fantastic service to boxing lunatics like myself and the many others who visited this site and the actual BBN site.

Then there were writers like yourself Oliver - I will state again there were a couple of your articles none in particular spring to mind - but they at the very least provoked a response from people like myself and when they did that in my view they provided a valuable input to boxing and the fans.

Although being an "Internet Writer" had the odd perks like a bloody good seat "inner ringside" - nonetheless the writers never got paid and have to travel the length and bredth of the country to compile their articles.

People like the BBN writers, then there is Carey on his sites and god forbid it "David Payne" - who provide a brilliant service to the the "Boxing Lunatics" and I am sorry to say it - but the more I hear about the demise of BBN the more I think Kevin is treating his workers with a tadge of contempt.

All I'll say is that in the five years I worked (for nothing) for the website, it was only ever down for a matter of hours.

I do one and then it's gone. The last explanation I had was that the web designers 'lost' the site during maintenance. Not going to air my jockstrap in public so I'll stop on that topic.

Don't want to say too much else. Apart from this: I did over 400 pieces under my name, probably more than this amount again re-written under 'British Boxing', hundreds edited, dozens of writers brought on (my teaching instinct there as well as simply wanting the copy). I reckon half a million words and 4000 hours.

The site WAS a good site because of, in my opinion, its niche editorial (most of which was edited reasonably) composed by a team of willing and talented volunteers.

I hope the likes of Oliver can get their work back.

Just want to say that I hope this isn't the end of BB.net - Kevin had alot of innovative ideas, some worked, others didn't - but innovative all the same.

Writers, you should always back up your stuff by saving them in your email accounts and on disk. I have learned this the hard way by losing lots of photos on my hard drive disk that failed (moore macklin card, woods vs delise 2 cards) i will never get them back. Now i send my photos to a photo agency and also ftp to my site and save on disk a couple of times. its like driving without a seat belt sooner or later...........
