I'm sure I read somewhere that he used to box.

I can see why the scousers are pissed off (half of 'em anyway), but I am excited at the prospect of Rooney playing in the Champions league and to see him paired up with Ruud.

His uncle runs an amateur gym so it wouldn't surprise me if he had sparred. Not sure he has had any actual bouts though

this wayne rooney boxing thing is tedious in the extreme. apparently he's even supposed to be related to bob fitzimmons. all rather tennuous.

i mean bob fitzsimmons looks nothing like shrek. and far from being green, fitzsimmons was known as 'ruby' robert.

i also have my doubts as to whether bob ever had a thing for 55 year old slappers who could do 25 guys a night.

as for his uncle owning a gym. fair enough. my uncle owns a villa in france but ive never been there. his brother is nw champ. fair enough, my brothers a fireman but it doesnt mean ive ever put out a fire.

Neil, I can sense the sources of your bitterness. Your uncle has a nice pad in France and doesn't even invite you, your brother pulls all the birds because he's a fireman and doesn't let you have a turn wearing the uniform :TU:

Surely the real transfer news is Rob Earnshaw going from Cardiff to West Brom?

as an Arsenal fan, i aint fussed one bit. Man Utd have a good strike force, Smith, Ruud, Saha and now Rooney but they'll only ever play 2 at a time. Can buy all the strikers they want. They have weaknesses elsewhere.
