It shouldn't be over for Ricky. Hatton...like America's Arturo Gatti...has personality. Personality goes a long way. Fans loved him and he sold the house out every time.
There are still a few top guys Hatton would likely beat. The fact is...Hatton is a natural BRAWLER...he's NOT a boxer. Yeah, he has some limited boxing skills and he has tremendous stamina. But when matched against advanced stylistic boxers...he can't deal. Pacman is a big puncher but people forget that he's a very skillful boxer. Sure, he makes mistakes that can be exploited but only by other, more accomplished technical boxers. Mayweather caught him with a perfect shot that saw Ricky bang his head into the ring post...what may have influenced the KO. Not making excuses...I do like Ricky, he puts on good fights...especially when well matched. I can see him beating the likes of, Amir Khan, Joan Guzman, Andreas Kotelnik, Dimitri Salita, etc.
It would be nice to see him fight guys like Victor Ortiz, Nate Campbell, Ricardo Torres!!...and why not go after what would DEFINITELY sell out the house...Junior Witter!
Otherwise, Ricky should just retire, enjoy his kids, his family, wife and a very rich life. He's a good kid and now he can get as fat as he likes if he retires.
The only reason for Hatton to go on, would have been to try and improve his legacy or make a load of money. He already has more money than he realistically needs and he fought two p4p champions and lost to them both, so he can't improve his legacy at all. The names you mention would do nothing for Hatton's legacy, because he would be expected to beat all those fighters anyway. The other point to make is that the knock-out to Pacquiaio was very very bad and he can't take too many more shots like that without enducing long term damage. Hatton was slightly past his best when he fought Pacquaio and a loss like that will have taken whatever was left away from him. He should retire.......end of
