Pascal - Great fight- Froch Copycat?

Just watched the full Pascal v Diaconu fight on Youtube.

Terrific battle, a real war.

I have to say that Pascal was very Frochesque in his style. He went with the hands low, the thrusting jab, the take one to land one tactic etc

I know that he sparred with Froch before the Taylor fight and maybe he picked up a bit of the style. From his earlier fights I have seen he didn`t employ these tactics to the same degree.

Anyone else see a resemblence to they way Froch fights??

Grab a beer and enjoy it. A proper title fight. Both guys took some heavy abuse and to me it really shows what a great job Froch did against Pascal.

For all Calzaghe`s slagging of Pascal, I think he would have given Joe a hard fight with that chin and aggression. I know Diaconu is not top top drawer in some people`s mind, but he was an unbeaten champion and also proved himself to be a tough guy.

Saw it the next day, great fight, really enjoyable. I know we are all wise after the event but I'm surprised at the people who picked Diaconu. Thought I might be missing something having only seen him fight twice but he was strong but one dimensional and Pascal's speed tied him in knots.

Fair play to the Romanian though, he played his part and it was a surprisingly cracking fight with plenty of give and take and Pascal's questionable chin always kept it exciting.

outstanding fight. perfect blend of styles. these men complement each other very well.

i think pascal was being pascal. his benefited having a shorter opponent. jean could land and pull back. diaconu not being fast or rangy enough to punish him.

pascal was brilliant: he boxed superbly, he matched his man inside.

i was impressed by duiaconu in the 2nd half. left it too late, but showed a shotgun jab, heavy body punching. i won't write off diaconu in a rematch. in fact i hope he wins rematch and that pascal gets a rematch clause, so the have a trilogy. "the shark" did pick up momentum and this will give him confidence for fight # 2.

interesting parallel - pascal had tough loss to froch, went on to have career best win. diaconu may also improve from the loss, which might have shown him where he needs to improve as a fighter.

the story continues...pascal v branco WBC title defence. would love to see diaconu v someone like oakey, on the undercard.

He looked pretty good, his footwork was what froch's should be but froch often forgetts to employ it. He was disiplined and stuck to his fight plan which is what won it for him. great fight really want to see more of pascal if they both keep winning maybe there can be a rematch at light HW when they've both won a couple of titles .
