Poor main event - Best UK undercard ever?

The Ricky Hatton vs Mike Stewart undercard is one of the most competitive and strong I have seen in a long time. Here are the fights.

Thomas McDonagh vs Andrew Facey
English Light Middleweight title.

Michael Jennigns vs Chris Saunders.
English Welterweight title.

Michael Gomez vs TBA (Eric Odumasi?)
WBU Superfeatherweight title.

David Barnes vs James Hare.
British Welterweight title.

Matthew Hatton vs Lee Armstrong.

Although its not listed on Boxrec, Sky are reporting that also on the undercard is Gary Thornhill vs Stephen Foster Jnr for the English Featherweight title.

It is this fight that I am most looking forward to, Gary is an excellent fighter who fairly recently gave both Scott Harrison and Nicky Cook all kinds of problems in championship contests. Harrison is of course very much world class, and Cook is no knocking on the door of world class. If this Thornhill turns up, then I think he has enough about him to do a number on Foster.

However, what also makes this fight intriguing is that Thornhill has been campaigning at Lightweight recently, and it will be a nightmare for him to make the weight.

Can Thornhill at this stage provide some questions for Foster to answer, or is this sensible match making from Sports Network. I think its very intriguing.

its a great card expect for the main event, but i doubt hare and barnes will happen.

Stu - you have to bear in mind that some of these might not come off. Let's hope they do.

Alex Arthur is down to fight Eric Odumase in October.

If all the fights on that card happen, then i think it'll be one of the best of recent years. Top card i can think of would be the Hamed/Hardy bill. "Winky" Wright vs Foster, Reid vs Wharton, plus Harry Simon, Danny Williams, Gomez, Cantwell, and Farnell. Sadly it would seem that shows like that one are, for the most part, a thing of the past.

Ian - My fault, your right.

When I meant best undercard ever, I did get carried away. However, I wasn't counting those UK PPV cards as they were more like a series of main events.

Its definately a good card though.

I was at that fight, there was certainly a lot of knockdowns!

But the arena was half empty, but I was pleased to get a chance to see Frietas in the flesh.

I also remember this guy getting the big build up on that card.

I was at that one, I most enjoyed Adrian Stone smacking the living daylights out of Geoff Mcreesh whose supporters were the biggest bunch of tossers I've the pleasure of encountering in a long time.

Harrison-Johnson was good too and Wlad was also on the card.

Too bad this isn't being shown over here in the States. I expect Hatton to win, but I'm a fan of No Joke. He's got a helluva heart and he always comes to win. I also enjoy watching McDonagh fight. Seems like an underrated guy to me.

But Rafferty lost to Kelly Oliver on that bill? No card can be enjoyed where Nige loses

I know Chris Aston sincerely believes Stewart will give Hatton a hell of a fight. The Mitchell fight he thinks was an unfair reflection of Stewart who he believes will prefer Hatton's style and will be less over-rawed than his first step into championship/marquee level.

Dunno enough about him myself. But thats another perspective.
