another of your many lies is Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand does not equal the same amount of people in Aus not even close..whoever thinks NZ and AUS are on the same playing field is blind and dont know the facts they obviously believe in their lies like houndog. Aus is just following NZs lead in snapping up us islanders to play rugby, league or fight for them. Something NZs done since 1970s. So dont even mess with me doggy boy

Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
Didnt Fitzsimmins learn his trade in Sydney before heading over to the Us. Ive read many books on him and im sure he come to Aus to learn his skills better and then moved on to the US.
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
looked at his record i was right, Your kidding yourself Hotdog. Fitzsimmins learnt most of his boxing skills whilst being trained in Sydney.
Here is what i got from his Wiki
Fitzsimmons (Jezu), the youngest of 12 children, was born in Helston, Cornwall in the UK. His father was James Fitzsimmons, born in County Armagh, Ireland and his mother was Jane Strongman born in St Clement, Cornwall. Bob emigrated to New Zealand at the age of nine along with his parents, brothers and sisters. His family settled in Timaru and Bob became a blacksmith in his brother Jarrett's smithy.
Between 1880 and 1881, Fitzsimmons reigned as champion of the Jem Mace tournament in New Zealand. Some say he officially began his career as a professional boxer in New Zealand later in 1881. Records remain unclear whether he received payment for a bout in which he knocked out Herbert Slade in two rounds.
Fitzsimmons had six fights there, two of them bare-knuckle events. He won one and lost five, it remains unclear whether any of those bouts involved payment.
Boxing record-books show that Fitzsimmons officially began boxing professionally in 1883, in Australia. He beat Jim Crawford there by getting a knockout in three rounds. Fitzsimmons had his first 28 definite professional fights in Australia, where he lost for the Australian Middleweight title (rumours spoke of a fixed bout), and where he also won a fight by knockout while on the floor: when Edward Starlight Robins dropped Fitzsimmons to the canvas in round nine of their fight, he also broke his hand and could not continue, therefore the referee declared Fitzsimmons the winner by a knockout.
By this stage Fitzsimmons had established his own style. He developed a certain movement and caginess from one of the greatest bare-knuckle fighters, Jem Mace. Mace had encouraged Bob to develop his punching technique and he revolutionised this, drawing on the enormous power he had gained from blacksmithing. Fitzsimmons delivered short, accurate and usually conclusive punches. He soon built up a reputation as by far the hardest puncher in boxing.
The birthplace of Bob Fitzsimmons in Helston, Cornwall
[edit] Winning the Middleweight title
Moving on to the United States, Fitzsimmons fought four more times in 1890, winning three and drawing one.

Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
yes he did further his trainning in Aus. Australia has always had great trainning methods and closer ties with the states and the UK that would have fed them all the latest trainning tips and fighters who go over and bring back valuable info. Australia is far advanced in trainning at least IM honest and can admit the truth(not like houndog who cant give NZ any credit or look for ways to take away credit) but yeah he did. If your a heavyweight boxer who started punching a bag in NZ you got a good chance of going far in AUS.
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
Im not going to take credit from him living in NZ and having a few fights there. He would have got a lot of his strength and toughness working in a blacksmiths shop as did our own Les Darcy. And im sure thats What Mace would have seen in him when encouraging him to come Down under.foxdog1923 wrote:yes he did further his trainning in Aus. one thing you cant deny is the states and the boxing world know Fitzsimmons as the kiwi heavyweight champion of the world. Not aussie who try to claim everyone that comes from NZ which is obvious throughout these 3 pages. Aussie wankerbies are 1 punch knockouts lol
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron

your making a big song and dance about someone born and bred in another country.

He says "oh no there claiming him" and starts laughing...well at least you guys give me and dave and the boys at the gym something to laugh about tommorow night. He even said that Aussie even claims Sonny Bill Williams..geez is there anyone in aussie that aussie wants to claim or do they like to learn about great kiwis and then claim them. Ben k your a laugh taking the time out to look for ways to learn about a NZ recognized hall of famer and then believing in your own lies about him representing Aussie (thats what Dave Fitzsimmons nephew has to say about you)...thanks for the laugh

I put that on for you you dipshit.
And we arnt trying to claim him simply telling you the facts.
He was born in England. Lived in NZ until 21 then moved to Sydney to train under Jem Mace and Foley. Who in fact had one of the best Gyms in the world at that time.
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
Ive will never discredit Fitzsimmons as he is one of the all time greats, The first man to win a title in 3 weight divisions and gave away huge size diffrence's in a lot of those fights. If you had a clue about boxing you would no about all the greats but i suppose your just on here to talk shit about Aussies and Talk up NZ.
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
Where have i tried to claim him being an Aussie. He trained here. Can you comprehend what your reading.
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron

He is right up there With John L Sullivan and Corbett for turn of the century boxers.
You really have no idea.
And if there's is one more racist comment you will be banned from here.

Have you red that up above ben k? proof your a liar....never knew about Fitzsimmons until a boxer like me came on and told yous about what us kiwis have known for years..fake ass...READ AND WEEP
Re: Meehan challenges winner of Tua vs Cameron
Just to clarify a fact that can be proven.
If there is going to be any banning I think that Ben might come out on top. He is one of only two moderators able to ban posters.
Also this forum is for everyone who enjoys boxing, not just boxers. I've never boxed professionally, and I'm not going anywhere. However, it should once again that there are other people directly involved in boxing, trainers, fighters families and officials who post here. Ben is also one of those.
BTW, Wiki is one of the least reliable sources on information on the internet. The info there is usually far from factual.
I really do not give a sh1t tbh...... but this is only going to end in tears.
