I spoke to my card company and they said no more payments would be taken, but I still by law had to write an address in Newry saying I was cancelling.

That sounds right, yeah. If payments ARE taken, they can be refunded if you dispute them, and the letter sent is proof.

....

Moral here is never ever use a credit or debit card for a monthly subscription.

Beware Setanta - the cheeky robbing b*******s

A snapshot of my account.

Bearing in mind they ceased transmitting on the 23rd of June they still managed to take money out of my account for a service they have no intention of providing 2 days after the event for the coming month.

Thing is, after my debit card expired a few months ago, they lured me in with a £5 a month deal for 3 months to stay - then low and behold they jump up to the full amount 2 days AFTER they shut the station.

Do yourself a favour and check your own bank statements and ensure they have not pulled the same trick with you.

Rot in hell you bunch of cowboys.

There are several threads about this- best thing is to keep all the posts them all in the same place.

Agreed.

Just thought this was indeed 'proof' of what former subscribers feared would happen, is happening.

I said at the time to cancel the card if you have to.

You cannot trust companies to stop taking payments.

However, it could be that the DD run had occured before they closed the company (think it starts 3 days before to clear funds)
