Dan Rafael is suggesting it could be against Andre Dirrell on 10th October as a defence of his belt and the first fight of the potential SM tourney.

If so, it is a very big step up for Dirrell but he has good potential to be a dark horse.

The Taylor win was better than all but two of Joe's wins and Dirrell would've be the third or fourth best win if Calzaghe beat him. Good to see Carl getting to work. Dirrell is a very talented guy though, its a risky fight, but Carl Froch is one of the few boxers with the massive set of balls to back up his talk of wanting to fight top opponents!

I typed out a response to your comment on the Taylor win being better than all but two of Joes, but don't want this to turn into a Froch Calzaghe thread. That type of comment is the catalyst mate.

To be honest I kind of want another Calzaghe- Froch debate. But I guess we can save that for another time if no one else does, I don't want to be a tit.

Dirrell is a very solid opponent and I am really becoming a Froch fan as he continues to take tough challenges and provide us with entertaining battles. Its all about risks and Frochy Balboa is taking them.

I was going to question whether wins over a 43 year old BHop (who was 1/4 on betfair right before the decision was announced) and Kessler, who hasn't proved much more than losing a close fight to Calzaghe, are better than a win over Taylor, who beat B-Hop and is way more proven than Kessler.

Its the type of argument that can go back and forth. Frochy should go for a Kessler fight and then a B-Hop fight. He wins them and he's made a mug of Calzaghe imo.

wake up cus taylor beat bhop it makes it a better win for froch its like saying cus bhop beat pavlik who beat taylor that makes it a better win what a load of crap

i find it funny how people keep bringin up bhop losing to joe as a bad point even though he just beat the top if not second best middleweight in the world even if it was out of his weight

froch slagged calzaghe off for fighting 'a old' hopkins then tries to get a fight with him himself

All I was saying was that it was arguable whether either the Kessler and B-Hops wins were better than the Taylor win for Froch, when crusader was saying it like it was certain.

Hopkins was 43 years old (or 44?) and beat Joe in the eyes of many (Joe was 4/1 on betfair after 12 rounds). Personally I had the fight even, initially I gave it to B-Hop by one but being kind to Calzaghe on rewatching the fight I gave it a draw. If Froch beats Hopkins clearly then he makes a mug of Calzaghe.

Is it just me who thinks Hopkins would make Froch look like an absolute mug? In order to beat Hopkins you have to outbox him for 12 rounds, Froch is not doing that and he certainly isnt knocking him out and I dont care about the Taylor beat Hopkins and Froch beat Taylor roundabout at middleweight. It would be Hopkins Pavlik all over again, especially as Froch would most likely be moving up in weight.

Froch too slow and too predictable for a crafty veteran in Hopkins, he would be countered all night. If I was Frochs handler I would steer well away from Hopkins.

Oh I agree that Hopkins would beat Froch, even at this late stage. You never know of course, but Froch is going to be moving up in weight and WILL be taking hard counters all night. And no he isn't KOing Bernard. It's an awful styles match up for him.

However, all I'm saying is that if he somehow DID pull it off (BHop getting old or BHops punch resistance going), then he has a better resume than Calzaghe undoubtedly so I understand why Froch was looking for that fight, as a sort of one-upmanship on Calzaghe.

I dont think the taylor win was better than calzaghes kessler win, kessler is a natural suppermiddle weight and the number 1 in the world

hopkins would beat froch with a wide UD and even though it was a close fight calzaghe landed more punches on hopkins than roy jones jr did over ten years ago

Putting 2 and 2 together, the following Board news for Adnar Amar's defence must mean that Froch will fight on this date.

Andre Dirrell's got skills and athleticism, but, as I've said before, he looks mentally frail. Froch just faced a guy who you could describe in the same way, in Jermain Taylor. Dirrell could go on to do something good, but I feel Froch may have the right attributes to beat him.

Hopefully I'll get to see Dirrell's next fight, which is next month.

I just listened to espn radio
Froch fights Dirrell fist oct 17
Then Froch fights Kessler 2nd
this is gonna be megga!!!!

Thats how it's done Joe!!!
Win a belt , go to America...kick ass,
Then fight the best in the world Back 2 Back 2 back
Thats how you get respect!!!!!
Not by sitting around defending against bum after bum, sipping tea with allegedly
and your loudmouth Dad Enzo, talking shit about your so called "LEGACY"
Then fighting old men and getting dropped on your arse in the first round and not stopping guys older than me dad. Then going on tv saying you stop Carl in 3 rounds lol,
your a bitter bitter man.

and by the way. Froch is going to make more $$$ in his next 3 fights than Warren ever paid you!!!! hahahahahahahaha

froch may not have your talent , but he has something you never had ...the balls to leave your confort zone. If Froch wins this tournament he has passed everything you have done fact!!!!

Don't entirely agree with your tone but we can all agree that Froch has 100x the balls of that Calzaghe had.

Calzaghe pulled out the "im afraid of flying" lines, when Roy was in his prime, yet flew to Denmark to take on "kid fire" McIntyre, flew to Germany to take on Veit. He only came to america when Roy and B-Hop were 40+ years old.

Froch came over and fought Jermain Taylor (highly respected in America) and now taking on Direll and then Kessler. No messing about with Asiras or Pudwills. Froch doesn't take the piss out of his fans like Calzaghe did.

If he beats Dirrell and then beats Kessler (which I really believe can happen), he'll actually have a really genuine case of having a better resume than Calzaghe!!

Calzaghe might have no option but to come out of retirement to face Froch, or risk looking like a complete and utter mug, as Frochy Balboa goes on to world domination.
