Should this great Mexican champion be in the IBHOF someday?
Does he got the credentials to be elected in or not?
This guy must be one of the most UNDERRATED fighters in history. I don't know why. Maybe because he beat his beloved countryman Ruben Olivares twice?
What are your thoughts of him?

Re: RAFAEL HERRERA: Hall of Famer or not?
I had forgotten until I went back and looked just how good a run Herrera had from 1971-74, handing Rodolfo Martinez his first two losses, handing Olivares his second and third losses, outpointing Chucho Castillo, besting flyweight champ Venice Borkhorsor and KOing former bantamweight champ Romeo Anaya. That's a heck of a run that may deserve a HOF look

Yes IMO.
He is vastly and inexplicably underrated.

We will induct Rafael Herrera into the WBHOF this coming October.elmersalsa wrote:Should this great Mexican champion be in the IBHOF someday?

The IBHOF is dependent upon voters who are members of the Boxing Writers Association.
The WBHOF counted votes last week, from a variety of boxing personalities world-wide, and Herrera finished strong.
I boxed with Herrera nearly forty years ago at the Main street Gym in L.A.
He was a skilled fighter with explosive power. A world champ who defeated an all-time great in Ruben Olivares.
He got my vote.
