Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Absolutely. Mind you, had Dib been disqualified I hate to think how the Boyz from Team Hussein/Dib would have reacted based on past incidents. Had it been Billy who slipped and got KO'd by a wild hook from The Kamikazee Kid I'm sure it would have been a DQ. Dib is overated anyway. He had his shot at a "weak" champ in Luevano and came up short he will never get an easier shot than that again.
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
I AGREE DIB IS OVERRATED, THE RESULT HAD TO BE NO CONTEST LIKE ON THE UNDERCARD EARLIER.
DIB STILL RESORTS TO CHEAP SHOTS LIKE HE DID AS AN UP AND COMING AMATURE.

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Why are we suprised. Dib bit one of his early opponents on Foxtel.
Of course he should have been DQd. Or his opponent should have been given time to recover. And after that time if he couldn't continue then it should have been a DQ.
I have been taught over and over again you CANNOT WIN A FIGHT ON A FOUL.

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
IMO, No Contest would've been the appropriate decision.
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
I can understand when a boxer is in a flurry and catches a guy when hes gone down allready, but what dibbs pulled there was discusting.
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Billy Dipstick is a fighter not a boxer, and as such will never get anywhere.
The very reason he's back in OZ contesting bum titles

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Everyone here seemed to condemn Roy Sio for what he did agaisnt solo, and there is very little difference with what Dib did.
My thoughts on that fight are as follows-
- The Japanese fighter was a character, slightly overawed it seems and reacted poorly a couple of times, but that is the sort of stuff that keeps people talking and interested. In general, except when Dib entered the ring, he was inoffensive.
- It was interesting that during the time after the fight I don't remember seeing a replay of Did being knocked down. The camera angle at the time was awkward, but it did appear he was knocked down. Very little was made of that.
- It looked like that given time, Dib would of had too much for the Tamagotchi.
- It looked like the the Jap had slipped as he went down. Dib then had a brain snap and hit him....it can't be attributed to anything else. He appears to be surrounded by the best, but he often fails to act anything like it. To describe the incident as "something that happens" smacks of amateur hour.
- I reckon that the Jap was playing up to the incident when he got up. Trying to make the ref' think he had been stunned by the illegal blow. A foolish thing to do when you consider the fight was being fought in your opponents home town. In the end he was moving forward to the ref' and the fight should not have been stopped
- I'm not sure of the rules, but in the replay, when the Jap is on the canvas, before the illegal blow, the time keeper is ringing the bell. Did the law's in that fight say that you can be saved by the bell?
- Why is it that team Hussein gets themselves into these situations? Billy seems like a good bloke when interviewed but the actions speak ten fold louder than words i'm afraid.
Not a good first night for the sport back on free to air. It came across poorly and the production was amatuerish. It's almost as if the sport has been stuck in the 'club' scene for to long. It needs someone to help it make a transition to a truly professional production.

Of course Dib should have been disqualified. This picture in the SMH shows Dib fouling:

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Are you serious?? I agree with alot of what you said but Luevano is far from a weak champ. have you even seen his fights? He is one of the most underrated champs getting about.Shadow Boxer wrote:Absolutely. Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
At worst, they should have given the other guy 5 mins to recover. I'm not familiar fully with Dib, besides a few fights, so I can't say if the punch was a heat of the moment thing or just a dirty shot.
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
I dont rate dib anymore i think that the jap fighter could of stopped dib if he pressed on after the knockdown...dib just really looked lost for me...though hope he bounces back because billy does have massive potential....

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
if you were fair u would say that dib was clearly winning against browne.
but yes he should have been disqualified. and yes he is overated. but he does have plenty of ability but seems to want to look flashy in the ring instead of just getting the job done properly.

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
WATCHED HIM IN HIS AMATURE TIME COME TO PERTH AND GET SHOWN UP BY A SCHOOL KID AT A FULL SPA SESSION WITH AUST TEAM. WHEN IT ISN'T GOING HIS WAY LANDED THREE LOW BLOWS AND WANTED TO WRESTLE MORE THAN BOX. HIS FORM IS A HABBIT AND I THINK HE AND HIS TEAM HAVE OVERRATED HIM. SOMEONE SHOULD TELL HIM HOLLYWOOD AINT REAL. LEGITAMATE CHALLENGER?? WAKE UP BILLY DIBB, OR IS THAT BILLY DUDD??
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Yes, yes, and yes again... Billy did not deserve a victory... as a boxer he is too overrated...
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
Boxrec rates Luevano no 3 featherweight. He has only lost one fight and that was years age. The boy must have some ability.dan h wrote:Are you serious?? Poor video quality, but you can see that Yamaguchi's foot missed the apron, which is the reason he went down.
The big shot from Dibb? Disgraceful.
The ref? Idiot.

Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
I've watched the video on you tube several times and have come to the conclusion that Dib is a piece of shit and a liar. But even worse is the ref who is completely corrupt and should be investigated. He was either paid off or is a racist and hates asians. There can be no other reason he allowed this to happen (unless he's just retarded). The announcers are also a big joke as they not only approved of the illegal punch but congratulated Dib for it.Why would a boxer from another country chose to fight in Autralia after seeing how corrupt the entire system is.If this result isn't changed and Dib isn't suspended then it speaks very poorly for Australian boxing as a whole.
Re: Should billy dib been disqualified?
I think the ref should be DQ.
