He potentialy has the skills but maybe not the discipline

I happen to think he has a better chance against Vitali then he does against Vlad but ultimately both will knock him out

At least he had Vlads dodgy chin and the fact that Vlad isn't the most comfortable with pressure and barely throws right hands.

Vitali has a fine chin, very tall, good power and very aggressive. Never been down in his life. Mismatch to say the least.

I think he will definitley beat Vitali. Although the big man is effective, he is slow, plodding and hasn't faced a motivated quick fighter for some time. I don't think his stamina is up to much either. I pick Haye to frustrate him, hurt him and tire him out.

I too think Wladi is the tougher assignment.

At least if he'd been in with Vlad instead Haye would've had the chin to go after. Vitali is too big to get caught often and to durable to get dropped easily. I still think Haye can stop Vitali, he has the speed and power to hurt/ cut him although it is a long shot. You have to expect Vitali to keep Haye on the end of the jab until sparking him with a right hand, actually he could probably drop Haye with the jab alone. Maybe Vitali pulls a muscle and retires though or gets over eager and walks onto a few big shots. Whatever happens at least Haye will bring some fire and invention to the fight, more than can be said for the vast majority of guys who have gone in with the Klitschko's of late.

I'm picking Haye.

Well aware that Haye could get hammered out early if he isn't able to get going, or has difficulty landing, but I think Haye's speed is going to prove nightmarish for the big fella, plus Haye wont have to look too hard for his chin, and imo he'll hurt him.

If Gomez had any kind of power I think Vitali would've been in big trouble. Haye isn't as cute or crafty though, but he can bang and has the skill and speed to put Vitali's chin to it's toughest test since Sanders, who had him hurt.

I dont give him much of a chance against Wlad he had a punchers chance because Wlad has a suspect chin but Vitali has a solid chin I see it being a 1 sided beating until Vitali KO's him at around the 6th round imo

No, he has a very small chance(as everyone does in boxing, I don't care how good Vitalis chin is, if Haye lands the perfect punch then Vitali is out) but he's going to have huge disadvantages in that fight, he'll be shorter, lighter, shorter reach and he'll have to take punishment in return.

Is this fight confirmed for Sept 12. If so, where?

Vitali is a monster, and a confident one at that

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ilvy5MLJq-E

The fact is that Mock dropped Haye and Haye couldn't drop Thompson, ergo he'd need a lump hammer to make Vitali even take a step back. Vitali is extremely strong, was happy going toe to toe with Lennox and has a vicious dig.

Vitali in 2-4.

I don't think Haye will be able to get anywhere near Vitali, and he'll get drilled with the jab and myriad of straight shots that Vitali throws at him.

Inside four rounds Haye will be done for.

Sorry to be so negative, but Vitali is a big, hard, spiteful man.

Have to agree - style makes fights - that why I ws delighted the Wladimir fight was made but gutted when it got cancelled!!!

Your summing up is a good one - another thing to add is Vitali can take a punch too - he took some big punches off Lennox.

I see the fight as a very very short one possibly even shorter than what you say - that is of course Vitali is in the mood for a scrap.

I would love for Haye to win, and never back against him, but I really felt that Wlad was his chance. Vitali is tough as old boots. I'm not sure Haye would beat him even if he had an amazing chin.I think Vitali blows him away very early on -2 rounds tops, or a bit longer if he starts slow.As spud says, it depends if Vitali is in a mood for a scrap, which I suspect he might well be, given the provocation in the build up.Haye is a very brave man and I really hope he wins.A BIG ask though.

Slow?

Vitali isn't slow at all. Watch the Williams fight and look how many shots he throws. As for Vitali's Stamina, I don't see that being an issue in this fight as it is unlikely to go that far.

For the record, Haye isn't noted for having a great engine either is he?

Haye is definitely faster than Vitali, but Vitali isn't a slow man at all, that's rather a misleading statement. Vitali throws more shots than any other top flight heavyweight I can think of.

There is a difference between hanspeed and throwing lots of shots, James. Martin Rogan pumps out his hands, but isn't fast.

Wladimir throws less, but what he throws is quicker. Also, the Danny Williams fight was several years ago now.

His hand speed looked good in the Williams fight and the Sanders fight, you're right.

Still quite slow of foot, and looked lazy against Gomez in my opinion.

That's true, and I didn't get to see the Gomez fight, but one of the things that always surprised me was how quick his hands were.

He also carries his hands a long way in front of him - which allows him to land on his opponent without having to extend the arms far. It's very effective, especially when you're 6' 7 and leaning backward from your opponent.

Whatever your definition of hanspeed, Vitali throws a lot and lands a lot, a lot more than most active heavyweights out there, and he has a very big dig on him too.

Wlad has fast hands, but he's nowhere near as destructive as Vitali, who drills his opponents.

As i said, not seen the gomez fight, and should probably watch it, but unless he has aged significantly, think he will be far too busy and hard to get at for Haye to prevail.

Vitali looked good against Gomez. His timing was impressive. Vitali is more daunting that Wlad, because at least if you get by Wlad's reach, there is a chance of dropping or stopping him.

Vitali's definately the toughest fight out there for Haye, but Hayes speed in defence and attack will cause any HW problems. Haye's got to be a very elusive target to stand a chance of beating Vitali

I saw bits and pieces of the Gomez fight. Vitali was very active throughout. Gomez came in with the attitude of giving Vitali no respect and giving his all in the ring. He walked through some big punches but they kept coming and he got KO'd in the 8th I believe.

Vitali may look awkward, but he has mastered his style, rarely gets hit flush and is very powerful. I've always been impressed with his speed too, especially int he Kirk Johnson fight. He looked fast in the Peter fight too and always has kept up a high energy level.

I doubt Haye can KO him with one shot. But there is no doubt he can KO Haye with one.
