I can understand why IJL stopped it when he did but I thought it was a little premature. Anyone who knows Haskins will tell you he's a completely 'on top' fighter. Even the very limited amount of work Burkinshaw did in the third resulted in the champ starting to look ragged, holding and turning.

I said Burkinshaw gets hit too often. It's always been the case - he needs to work on this. It was obvious he came to survive the first couple of rounds and then see what happened.

Then it was too late. Better man won and all that.

The rest of the bill looks terrible and, trying to speak as an objective observer, it really is yet another Friday Night horror show from Sky.

JL Dickinson V Rasani is pretty dire too. Rasani doesn't look interested and is just looking to pot shot the odd big right. Dickinson looks pretty average and lacking any serious power........cue the knockout

You would expect with Sky being the only major broadcaster showing regular boxing they would start dictating to the promoters, and only accept high quality, competitive cards.

Brian Rose is on now against a journeyman. Never really been that impressed with him, he looks to have good basics but not a lot else. This is fight 13 for him i think, he'll have to start fighting better opposition soon or he'll end up going nowhere.

Sadly Burkinshaw wasnt up to it, I thought he was better than that. Haskins only looked good because Burkinshaw was so poor. The other fights were foregone conclusions and hardly worth watching. Didnt much like the Dickinson brothers. The younger one looked as if his brain was busting out of his head. Rubbish night really. Lets hope Sky who will soon be the only channel televising boxing do better in the future, it cant go on like this much longer.

Just heard the interview with Burkinshaw at the end of the show...."the plan was to do nothing for the first 3 rounds"..........full credit, he certainly stuck to that plan perfectly. Sadly the next part of the plan, leaving gaping holes in your defence and showing sod all head movement was just as successful.

I've never heard anything like it, the plan was to do nothing, not keep things close and work the body...or pick him off with the occasional jab, the plan was to do "nothing".

What I THINK the kid means is that the plan was just to get through the first three rounds, survive, and then try and actually do something from there. Fair point Ian. I just can't get over the fact that he thought soaking it up should involve leaning forward with his head perfectly into Haskins range whilst offering absolutely nothing back. I've never seen anything like it. Maybe the 'quality' of the rest of the card has just put me into picky mode though DD

Well I'm shocked in reality.
As I understood it, the game plan was to draw Haskins into the mid rounds and later, which in some respects just isn't Ross's style.
That said, it is true that Ross did not implement that at all, by the lack of movement, and a watertight defence.
All indications were that Ross had been working really well in the gym, and I know the whole team will be feeling it.
Maybe nerves got to him, I don't know.
There were the odd glimpses that Ross could worry Haskins if he could have got through the early stuff, but all too little.
Maybe the step up was too much too quick, but that's the name of the game in this division domestically.

Definitely looked as if nerves got to him especially in the 1st round.

Thought the stoppage was a bit premature, would've been better if he'd have left it a little, let Burkinshaw take the knee and then saw what happened, Burkinshaw looked a bit more busier in the 3rd/4th (well he couldn't look less busy than he did in the first 2 can he!) so may have made a little more of a fight of it.

Think it was definitely a case of rabbit caught in the headlights, maybe the lad isn't ready yet, only 22, only fought 10 times.

Travis Dickinson if focussed will go onto domestic maybe european level no problem at all
