One thing though, I like fried ice cream.They have that out there? Somebody at the Mexican resteraunt by my house here said it was a mexican dessert. Maybe it isnt authentic. I dont know . Im just a cement headed Irishman. :D
Fried ice cream? I never heard of it, maybe Randy has.... :confused:

Frank . . . After watching Vic D. fall short in his bantam title fight, I found myself bored by the sloppy, one dimensional skills of BOTH boxers. Remember, I kinda got used to guys like Olivares, Pimentel, Medel, etc.

Now these guys are really blowing smoke that Vic held ome version of the fly and sper-flywt titles.
At 112-115 lbs they think he was invincible. I remember a guy named Alacran Torres, and what about Keeny Teran at those weights?

If you didn't fall asleep during the fight, you must have wondered how these guys could be considered "special.

El Cholo is fine with me. I have only eaten at the El Cholo in La Habra. The El Cholo Restaurant in Los Angeles is supposed to be one of the oldest continuously run family restaurants in town, It would be interesting.

Actually, I love good Mexican food. We don't have good Mexican food in St. Louis. Taco Bell is good Mexican food In St. Louis, compared to the crap they serve at so-called "Mexican" restaurants here. :witzend: :witzend:

But we had great Mexican food in Oklahoma. :TU: :TU: However, the style of Mexican food I grew up eating in Oklahoma is "Tex-Mex," and it's different than the style of Mexican food you have in California, Frank. As the name indicates, its the food of the Tejanos (Texas Mexicans - your friend Eva Longoria is Tejano, Rick). I love it. But that said, when I go to Southern California, I eat Mexican food at least one meal a day. But I really love Tex Mex.

We've got Tex-Mex here as well, but when Frank takes you into the Eastside, you'll appreciate something special.

Before becoming a diabetic, I used to eat fried ice cream in Oklahoma and when I visited Texas. Maybe its a Tex Mex delicacy.

El Cholo is nice if you're trying to impress a girl, fancy place, $$$, but the food is not home made style, Like Pug says they dress it up, but for finger licking good food, you have to go to the hole in the wall places in E.L.A.

Man Im getting hungry reading the thread!

I had a feeling my buddy Primo was bullshi.ing me about the fried ice cream being authentic.
Its on the menu at the restaraunt called El Tipico down the street. Im gonna throw an arm lock on him next time I see him cuz thanks to his information , I look like a jabroni talking about Mexican food with my friends here. :lol:

Rick, as you can see boxing is at a very low point, when jokers like this guys can become champions, Vic, can't fight and the other dude can't fight much either.

I think its Tex-Mex, Brian. I hope Jeri will know. We ate it in Oklahoma in the Mexican restaurants there.

Leave it to me, El Cholo is what I know.

A month or so ago I took a bunch of old 8mm movie reels that my father had filmed back in the mid to late fifties and had them transfered to a DVD format. These film had not been looked at in over fifty years.

I was not prepared to be overwhelmed the way that I was. Seeing my father and mother so young, my sister and myself and all of the uncles and aunts on both sides of the family, many of them have been long gone for years, including my father. It was a real treat to see these but it also somewhat melancholic. I was reminded of how temporary so many things are. As soon as I can figure out how to load them to youtube I'll share them with you. They were incredibly overwhelming.

Randy!, where did you have this done, I have reels of 8mm-super 8 of the boys boxing when they first started out in 1964, and also of the rest of the family.

Tom, I just this very minute asked Jeri about fried ice cream and she never head of it. Now it could very well be Mexican or TexMex but I know for a fact it ain't California Mex. Maybe it's part of that newfangled Nuevo Latino (New Latin) cuisine that's kind of trendy right now. (I hate trendy).

I'm diabetic as well, so I don't eat too much ice cream anymore but you can bet if I ever see fried ice cream on the menu, any menu, Mexican or otherwise, I'm ordering it. I'm curious now.

I found this guy in the yellow pages. Here's his website http://www.retsilproductions.com/ it will have his phone number on it. He works from his home in Yorba Linda. Tell him I recommended him to you. Don't wait Frank because you never know with film. It doesn't last forever. I was lucky.
