Re: LIONEL ROSE VS VIC DARCHINYAN AT BATAMWEIGHT
My thoughts are that it's easy to say that today's fighters are not as good as in previous eras and there may be some truth to it. No doubt Rose was a better bantam than Vic and ineded a better fighter overall. I wouldn't judge them based on a particular weight class but rather their best weight class. Vic's best weight class? Who knows, he doesn't hang around long enough to find out

Despite not liking the fella, bollox (my reasons are my own, occluded & occulted though they may be they are many & various) I have to stick up for him here.
Darchinyan was the undisputed super-fly champion. IMO he's done more in this division than any other man of his weight ever.
Moon was good, Roman was good, Galaxy was good, Tapia was very good but despite all of them making more defences than him, none beat as many other champs as Vic has. I know it's partially the way boxing is set up now, with the belts being devalued so that to make decent money belt-holders sometimes fight each other rather than stay at home defending against no-hopers (which is deffo a good thing too!) but I couldn't take away my grudging admiration for Darchinyan's reign at 115 lbs.
He's the Man at super-fly, if you ask me, & losing to Agbeko last night did not change that (maybe says he's not a bantamweight). I do think he should stay at super-fly, 'cos against guys his own size (or only eight pounds lighter) he doesn't look quite as effective.
But again, to my mind, he's undisputedly proved himself number one at 115 lbs. His only decent challenger for supremacy (Montiel) can't make the weight either, so it's Vic as Champ at super-fly for me. That in itself is a fantastic achievement, like I said, one that I don't think anyone else has come close to at the weight.
PS: Sorry for the long post but I have no idea how he'd do against Rose.

Hard to say. Rose lost to Ray Perez on the way up and Ray was no world beater.
Re: LIONEL ROSE VS VIC DARCHINYAN AT BATAMWEIGHT
I couldn't tell you who would win.
But what i can't understand is how people think 3-5 pounds could actually make that much difference, i mean for fornicate sake it's 2 bigmac meals at best. No excuses Vic fought the wrong fight and thats it, nothing to do with weight.
If i was Vic an automatic rematch would take place.
The weight issue really only applies from Lightweight up IMO.

Re: LIONEL ROSE VS VIC DARCHINYAN AT BATAMWEIGHT
I can honestly say IMO Rose would have taken him apart. Vic is far to crude a brawler to beat a prime Rose.
Rose was a natural 118 pounder and fought when there was only one champ in each weight division.
