RIP Champ, underated in my opinion. For a small time at Super Feather he looked incredibly hard to beat. He was a real monster at that weight, and was in alot of peoples top 5 P4P bracket.

I would have loved to have seen Gatti vs Tszyu in 2004 - would have been a classic.

Although sadly, what Bennie says turned out to be the case. I always thought he would be actually proping up the bar in 40 years time with Mickey Ward telling everyone about their classic.

I hope to see him put in the Hall of Fame in 3 years time.

I am absolutely gutted and stunned about this news, RIP Gatti.

gatti was a great fighter without a doubt.Brave as hell aswell,he beat the dane tomas daamgard with two fractured hands by taking him out in the 11th. v patterson, rodriguez, ruelas, ward,he was in so many entertaining fights.
prime gatti v prime hatton at lightwelter now that would be something.

What a tragic, seemingly violent end for an absolute legend.

I'd hope to see an official, non-cheesy DVD featuring all the ups and downs of Gatti's career. He really did produce some jaw dropping moments in several fights. I'd say Robinson 1 was just about my favourite.

Very sad day.

I remember Bob Mee writing that Gatti-Ruelas was the greatest fight he had ever seen. Ruelas was on the verge of a knockout win when Gatti, typically, pulled a knockout from nowhere.
Gatti, a Canadian, seemingly belonged to every country in the world.

Yeah, reading that his new wife is the suspect.... they were on their honeymoon and their 1-year baby son was asleep in the same apartment.

Next thing we'll read is that he beat her or something i imagine.. i just get the feeling this story is going to be a very deep one when it all unravels.

R.I.P Arturo!

Its a sad, sad day, but it'll be an even sader day if it turns out his wife set this up for whatever end she had to gain.

The last news I heard about Arturo before his death was that he'd been arrested for an alleged assault on a girlfriend(don't know if it was this one or a former partner) but I don't know if anything came about of it, still I'm sure more will come out over the next week. Sad time for boxing at the moment with two of the most popular fighters of recent times dying.

i'm surprised at that. there have been wilder, more dramatic slugging matches such as joichiro tatsuyoshi v sirimongkol sinwangcha (around 1998, WBC bantam title) for instance. but it was an excellent fight. i prefered gatti-robinson 1 to gatti-ruelas. there were some startlingly sudden momentum shifts in that one.
