OH NO audley Harrison is out for the rest of the year

London, ENGLAND (September 8, 2004) – Having starting 2004 on a fast and furious pace, undefeated heavyweight contender Audley Harrison (17-0, 12KOs) has suffered an unfortunate blow to his rising career after learning that he will need hand surgery, which will curtail his fighting schedule until the beginning of next year.

While sparring, in preparation for his scheduled November 13th fight in America, Harrison suffered the injury to his left hand—that was confirmed as a ligament tear to his index finger. After visiting a London-based specialist, who diagnosed the tear, Harrison will travel to New York next week to meet with renowned hand doctor Charles Malone, who will perform the surgery. Although it is on the same hand as the injury he suffered after the Olympics, fortunately it is not the same knuckle and not as severe.

“I was off to such a great start with three fights back-to-back,” said Harrison. “Now it has been just one disappointment after another particularly this injury that will derail my ability to box for the remainder of the year.”

“Between not being able to make the Skelton fight, the ruthless decision by the BBC to end our relationship and now this hand injury, I feel overwhelmed by the collective circumstances and am looking forward to putting an end to 2004,” said Harrison. “However, I have always said 2005 would be the year I go for it and that’s what I plan to do. Me and my mate Chambers are going to take the HW scene by storm next year”

Harrison will undergo surgery and rehabilitate in the States before travelling to the WBC convention in Thailand and then returning to England for the remainder of the year. In 2005 he will permanently locate himself in the States where he will pursue the remainder of his career with the goal of becoming heavyweight champion of the world.

What a shame Fraudley will not be fighting again this year, i feel sorry for future opponents in all of this, i am sure Jeff Lally, Danny Wofford and Dave Clarke will be upset that there chance has gone for another year 8)

Shame Audley doesn't show this type of aggression in the ring.

Perhaps this is me being thick, but what the F does "Three back to back fights" mean. Back to back means in succession and usually refers to wins without a defeat. But three back to back fights? That just means he's fought three times.

Practically every pro-boxers has had 3 back to back fights.

I do know what he means, just being argumentative - although I do question his definition of the term fight to be honest.

I think iuts just in quick succession, and also the fact that he announced those fight dates in the pre fight interview ie straight away.

I think you're right. You can say "I had 3 back-to-back knock out win" meaning 3 KOs in 3 straight fights, but 3 B2B fights doesn't really mean anything.

(Like in football, 3 B2B wins means 3 wins out of 3 matches).

But perhaps it's a new, winning way of talking, that Audley calls, "The Audley Speak". ?
