....the shameful story about the graves in the burr oak cemetery here in chicago being torn up, used more than once, bodies being thrown into a heap and other horrors has made the national news. the tragic emmett till's body was buried here, along with dinah washington and other famous names. it was the only cemetery that allowed african americans burials in the past. ezzard charles died in chicago and worked here in his last years, yet the local tv news caster's didn't mention his name when they spoke of it, nor did the newspapers, an ommission i intend to correct. the cbs network news did..catie couric referred to him as "the legendary boxing champion ezzard charles." No sign if his grave was among those that suffered this shamefull act as it will take many weeks before many will be identified.
a grisly, unforgiveable crime.

I believe the grave scam has only been going on for a few years and is only believed to have involved 3-400 burials. I don't believe it's effected any of the celebrities like Otis Spann, Willie Dixon, Kokomo Arnold or Dinah Washington.

- Report is that Till's grave was undisturbed, but that his original casket he was buried in before they unearthed his body for an autopsy was found rusting in a shed with wildlife living in it.

The funeral home had held a benefit to raise funds for a memorial display of the coffin, but the proprietors pocketed that money. The targeted graves picked for desecretion were the poor and indigent who wouldn't have many if any visitors. I believe they stacked several bodies in the grave as they would use the same plots to sell over and over again.
