RIP Gatti - his trilogy with Ward was quite simply one of the best series in fights I have ever seen

Hit with a heavy object and strangled with a handbag apparently. Not a fitting end to a true warrior to be killed by a handbag.

I just hope that the rumours that he assaulted his wife were just rumours. I'd hate to view a person who entertained me for years as a scumbag.

of course he assaulted his wife. but she was no saint either and ultimately killed him with her bare hands while he was sleeping. i assume they had a rocky relationship, everything great one day and disastrous the next. i have no doubt they both hit each other (and gatti was in court for it). Ultimately the wife did him in.

Damn all that hard work and punishment, and for what. I'm absolutely fornicating gutted.

The time in a fight whereby Gatti might actually clinch was about the time when most other fighters would be sat in their dressing room wondering what went wrong.

Jaysus what a horrible story with him and Davey Hilton Jnr interconnected
A horrible story indeed. Gatti, however, had absolutely nothing to do with Dave Hilton, who was just an in-law (married to Gatti's sister). Gatti was as repulsed as everyone when Hilton was jailed for molesting his own children (Gatti's nieces, of course) and said they should never free him.
Hilton, in turn, said he hoped Oscar De La Hoya (Gatti's pending opponent) would "put him in a coma".

this is awful news, not that I know the fella or what he's like. It sounds like he's gotten into some sort of drunken or maybe drugged stupor and she's choked him....how else would a woman do this...how would a fella choke a fit Gatti? with great difficulty I think.
A purse string?? smacks a bit desperate doesn't it?

RIP anyway.
