That's true, I remember reading about that years ago. It was a kick wasn't it? Would love to see the footage.

Haye can knock out Vitali because Vitali just isn't as good as he's made out to be or as good as his opposition makes him look. He's an arm puncher with slow handspeed and footspeed and keeps his hands low. That in itself makes him a KO waiting to happen its just bad boxing and before you say it the only reason it hasnt happened is because he's only fought old men and sumo wrestlers in his career. His chin is supposedly 'great' but he hasnt fought anyone who's hit him too many times. Haye should have him if he can time that right and step in on it and keep Vitali going backwards.

Whats all that about? They the numbers you've given them for a fictional 5-a-side team picking or something?

I know! I know! It's the proximity order that each of these heavyweight boxers was born to Bermondsey. Right Superheavyweight?

I can see only one winner in Vitali. Haye would have to completey change his style to win and it would take stamina which i don't think he can attain.

He would need to use constant lateral movement, keep his back off the ropes and the pace slow then leap in an out with fast hard single shots and one twos to take a 12 round decision. The same tactics that Quintana used in his first fight with Paul Williams. Unfortunately i see this looking much more like the rematch.

A small part of me can dream the impossible dream and i'll be there when the fight comes off with fingers crossed.

Haye could win on cuts or even a TKO, with Vitali finishing on his feet.

Vitali looked so open against Peter and Gomez it was unreal. He was also slow and plodding, he is not the fighter he once was. However he still has his punch and Haye's chin may be vulnerable.

Makes for a great fight!

Haye is such a straight talking, student of the game you have to give some consideration to his expected version of the outcome.

But with the best will in the world he looks like cannon fodder to the Klitschko brothers.

But OH how I would love to be proven wrong.

My head says that Vitali will be far too big and tough for the Hayemaker and KO him in the first 3 rounds, a repeat of the Herbie Hide fight.

But this is 10 years later, and Haye is better than Hide. I dont think Haye will take Vitali out with one big punch like he could do with Vitali.

The scenario which would see Haye win is a modern-day, hopefully less gruesome version of Dempsey-Willard, where the much smaller, much faster and much hungrier fighter sets about the slower giant with venom and batters him. A big ask though

NO CHANCE.....surely

Can't believe HBO are saying Haye prefered Vitali over Wlad? He probably just reckons he can KO anyone he hits, like most punchers....but he's in for a major shock here, this could be quicker than Tyson/Spinks.

Chambers did it at weekend, similar physical difference.

But Vitali is tough. No doubting that.

But he's had a patsy filled career.

Lost to Fat Lennox Lewis, Beat Fat Danny Williams, Beat Fat Kirk Johnson, Beat Fat Corrie Sanders, Beat Fat Sam Peter..........

Haye's tactics will be crucial but he does have speed and power. Whether he has the craft to use them is another matter.

Klitschko hits hard enough to fell virtually anyone and Haye has low hands and a brittle chin. And he's a sucker for a right hand.

I think Haye might prefer Vitali because he's slower and less skilled than Wlad.

Vitali is about as far away from Dimitrenko as light is from dark. I should be arrested for even putting their names in the same sentance

As for this fight. The more I think about the more I feel Haye is going to get splattered

In my first post I said he potentially had the skills but i'm not sure he does. He does have good power but we dont know if it is elite yet( at this level). His speed of hand is good but he has yet to demonstarte amazing footspeed so I have my doubts as to whether he can pop the jab 1-2 and get out. Thats the only way he can beat Vitali because we all know if he he is wreckless tnd tries to take one to land one then its all she wrote for Haye

So, I'm picking Vitali by mid round KO

But Chambers has a good chin, plus Dimitrenko is an over protected stiff.

I really feel Vitali is going to LOVE this fight, he'll have noted ringside the way DH went over from a half punch last time out, and he'll be fired up to blast out DH very early. Plus he knows DH isn't going to hit him any harder than Lewis did, and in a battle of punchers, the better chin always wins.

Good fight though :TU:

Agreed. Do people really think Haye can outbox Vitali? I find that hard to swallow. Haye is not the fleet footed type of in and out fighter. He is a thinking fighter and relies on his power to sort things out. He'll have major problems with Vitalis jab alone, never mind the right hands that will start bouncing of his chin from the word go.

I admire and respect Haye for seeking out the best, but it's beyond a step to far for him.

His best shot will bounce of Vitali's chin like Sanders (who landed his best left hand in the first round) and Lewis (remember that huge uppercut he hit Vitali with?).

People saying he could win on cuts are being a bit hopeful... it was a freak occurance when he was cut by the edge of Lewis's glove and he is rarely cut otherwise. In fact, I can't remember seeing him cut, other than in that fight.

So all in all, Haye is greatly outreached and much smaller and has to get past a jab that will be thrown at him constantly. Coupled with a right hand that can KO him if it touches him. You really have to wonder how he can be competitive in the fight, apart from getting on his bicycle and spoling and hoping to catch Vitali by surprise. Vitali is no mug though and will hunt Haye down.

Really, Haye has almost no chance here because his punch won't be able to get him out of trouble like it has in the past.

All I'm saying is, size isn't everything. But Haye has done nothing against a fighter like Klitschko, has precious little ring time under his belt across his last 4 fights and two years of fighting and is a sucker for Klitschko's best shots, straight right.

this rushing is a bit silly and it seemed to affect him vs barrett. too much flailing - leading him into messy mistakes - and in too much of a hurry for my liking. i like haye but he didn't make a convincing heavyweight statement v barrett. ambition is one thing but haye seems overeager for the big prize when he could have built up to it. i liked how holyfield worked his way up to heavyweight contention but those were different days.

Agreed. Though your question seems to be carrying another message.

But there are plenty of fights out there that would help.

He could blitz old Arreola for a start.

Surely the hurry is down to the fact he'll be sparked by the first heavy that takes a shot and gives one back...

That's the long and the short of it @ Wales

Better risk/reward ratio fighting the Klitchkos. Lose and you are just in a heap with the other HW stiffs who cant lay a glove on them. You can still rebound around the 2nd tier and make a bit of money against other Klit leftovers.

Win and your the saviour of the HW division, on the queens honour list, giving interviews on GMTV etc and being considerably richer for it

I'm convinced Haye has almost no chance of getting Arreola to agree to a fight. Arreola's waiting on a title shot and won't want the risk.

Yeah, Haye's chin has weaknesses, Hide has no chin. Haye is also a better fighter in my opinion, undisputed at his weight. Hide is still trading of a few good rounds versus Bowe.
Haye is capable of constructing and sticking to a tactical plan. Hide thinks a tactical plan is health insurance for your balls.
