Soloman Haumono vs Michael Kirby on fox in September.

Post by Hounddawg »

This is on for September on a Fox card.

Big step for Solo, if he hasn't learnt anything from his last 3 fights it's going to be a long night.

I think going on recent form Kirby wins by late TKO, what are peoples thoughts?

Great Matchup by Di Carlo again. :TU:

Kirby 8th round KO.

Solo will do well early only to be beaten down and KOd .IMO
I see it unfolding very similar to the Kirby-Briggs fight.

let me go on the record ...this is a good matchup !!

kirby is way too fat but he is a tough cookie...also stepping straight into a 12 rounder while still under 10 fights.... does anyone see a points fight ?

also Alex Leapai is booked for a busy year....(hes becoming a joey abell...exciting and in good fights, if not quite b level)

as for meehan...he becomes officially retired next month....making the recently returned Peter Okhello the asia pacific number 1

:shame: sorry mate looking at my status if Meehan is to retire shane cameron would be asia pacific ranked No.1 then follow up by Leapai while Peter Okhello who has done us proud in the past years is no longer the dangerous bull he once was who I think would struggle against some the new generation heavies we have in the asia pacific.

Kali has stated he'll be fighting on a Newcastle Televised card, opponent not named.

So you think more muscle is needed for Kirby hey, I think his first 12 rounder was in his 4th fight and he is extremely durable.

No I can't see a points win for either, but more importantly i can't wait to see how both approach the fight.

because of geography the top 3 's domestic records are pretty similar.

Meehan was top because of the head to head (KO 3) with Okhello...

but as Kali is out of the picture i think (boxrec aside) that still makes Okhello the main man with Cameron second seeing as Cameron hasnt fought anyone of note yet (b or a level).

its also worth pointing out that meehan and okello only lost out at the highest level whereas Leapai..di mori...kirby and hops all started off badly

Im backing Kirby all the way in this fight. He has a good chin, decent power is aggressive and has been in tough fights so has all the ingredients to beat Solo. If Solo wants to win I suggest he gets in great shape and learns to box ad move his best chance to to outbox Kiry hope he tires late and then start dropping his heavy straight right he may get a late rounds stoppage but i doubt it.

N2 shape you have been talking with Kirby to get Chauncey this fight, out of curiousity any talks(not speculation or Hype) of maybe Chauncey getting in the ring with the winner.

Houndawg,

As Ive said in the past Solo wants nothing to do with Chauncy they have turned us away numerous times in the past. Some people on here have dismissed this but thats fine. I can tell you its 100% true. On the other hand we have had positive but brief talks with Kirbys people. Kirbys a Tough SOB and a fight beteen him and Chauncy would be a beter fight for the fans than Solo.

If Kirby wins I think theres a decent chance of Chauncy fighting him in the near future. If Solo wins then like I have once again mentioned Solo has showen in the past he doesnt want anything to do with Chauncy so I doubt anything there would happen.

Hmmm, maybe Chauncy should be ring side at the fight, and enter the ring with an official challenge, it's on TV.

There's been a couple in the past here, from Memory the last was when Zappa entered the ring to challenge Tommy Browne.

What are they going to say NO, it's the fight game, it's bound to come off.

to be fair, just because your bloke wants to fight haumono doesn't mean solo is obliged to accept. there are other fighters on the same level or higher here in oz u know. and its clear haumono is continuing to test himself more now than he was before. it may still happen though.

Marlin - they have let the fat dorky one in the ring almost 50 times now so cant see a reason why they wont let him step between the ropes a few more times :DD

I'd love to have Chauncy ringside at the fights to do exactly they and he would! Thing is its an expensive way to get a fight!! He will be in OZ shortly once I relocate alot of the US boys will be hitting the Aussie shores!!

Im still hoping Kirby VS Welliver will go ahead after the Solo fight!

i have been really let down with Sol-man lately he has been really unconvincing, he lacks the hunger and ambition to want to be a top fighter. I wonder how frustrated Johnny Lewis gets at ringside.
