Don't think we'll get any. You can't make an excuse for that....he just got caught with a concusive shot that would have knocked anyone at 154 out... :x

No excuses at all. Came home with him tonight so he's obviously devastated. Said it felt weird, being totally in control, boxing within himself, hurt Alexander and he said he just went in to finish him cos he felt Alexander was ready to go. Said it's the weirdest thing, thinking you're just about to knock someone out, then all of a sudden you've got people all around youtrying to stop you getting up.

All he kept saying was how freaky Wayne's power is. He's very annoyed with himself for going in to finish it so quickly but that what can he say, he's an aggressive fighter and when the moment came when he needed to show ice in his veins, he left himself open for, now lets be honest, a fornicating massive shot.

Alexander is the Julian Jackson of British boxing. He's shit when it comes to skills, chin and apparently ribcage, but boy can he bang. But he's been winning fights like that since he was a kid.

Long road back for Tak now and although it obviously hadn't quite sunk in, he says he expects it to tomorrow.

Plus, and I haven't seen it yet, he also says he got cut before the punch knocked him out and that once he saw blood that just made him even more eager to get to Wayne.

Well done to Alexander though and I told Tak that if he's too despondent he should remember that Wayne himself got splatted, put down and hurt in his last two fights but managed to come back.

All I keep thinking is 'silly silly boy' for playing straight into Waynes hands when he didn't really need to. He should have just kept the kind of concentration he showed in round 1. It told him b4 the fight he could make it the easiest fight of his career if he stayed focused and tryed to pick and poke Wayne apart, but hey, he's fighter and punches hard himself so in a way, to quote Sugar Ray Robinson, 'It's my job to get a man in trouble!'

It was a good-old shoot out and no doubt if Tak's left hook had got to Wayne first, the result would have been different.

No disgrace losing to the punch of the year though, that's what I say.

I don't think it's any eggageration to say this one of the most intense KO's i have ever seen, it was chilling. A real smasher of a shot right on his chin Tak's eyes rolling as he fell, it was brutal.

Anyone who rushing in after WA is looking to catch one.

It is no disgrace for Tak' to take a punch that would have cold cocked just about anyone in that division. However, a class fighter would not have been taking such a wide stance against WA and would not have taken that shot in the first place

The bonus ( if it can be called that ) is that a KO like this is less punishing in the long run than a late stoppage. So, I think Tak will come back and give it a crack. Perhaps a rematch with Farnell

As for WA. It should give him confidence for the future. Let's just hope he doesn't get lazy again

I think it just shows that most divisions in Britain at the moment is filled with a lot of average fighters with equal levels of ability, it makes for interesting fights but in the long run doesn't bode well for our long term World title ambitions.

Great KO... GREAT. I think it's in the top 3 I've ever seen.

When I saw Sky show the prefight odds, I couldn't believe it. Alexander at 15/8?? Alexander Koing Tak would have been even bigger. Can't believe I didn't look up those odds but I just presumed that it would be somewhere around 50-50.

Glad to hear that Tak is OK after that and has no excuses.

Alexander has the power to Ko anyone in the division. I'd like to see him fight a big name and cash out. He IS a good fighter, showed good fottwork and upper body movement. He can cause a shock at world level in my opinion.

Dirt - rude to say WA is shit skill wise - chin wise etc !

He knocked out Tak and showed good skill before he did - Tak did not do much except cover up - he took many good jabs - serious knockout and glad Tak is fine - but he is limited and I was pver the moon for WA - Tak

Tak been taking the mick for years and he got it good on Saturday night !
Tak was too busy with the entertaining ( wtf was that fake Naz dance all about ?..lol ! )

WA ko 2 Takaloo.

No dount Tak is a safe enough guy - but he can not back up his talk.

Fact.

Okay, shit may be a bit harsh but not by much. I've never rated Wayne's skills. He's a pure puncher who gets the job done, nothing else and from where I sat I thought Tak was the much better of the two in the first, making Wayne miss so badly he was looking into the crowd from the ropes, catching him with a shot over the top and Wayne showed out when he got hit downstairs in the second but hey, no argument with the quality of that punch at all. Tak played straight into Wayne's hands. Foolish tactic so early in the fight.

But sorry, if Wayne gets a shot against Santos, unless he lands one of his bombs, he'll get his ears boxed off and probably stopped by the middle of the fight. He's very vulnerable IMO and that's been there for all to see in his last three fights.

He'll put in a better effort against Santos than Tak did I guarantee it.

He will do a LOT better that TAK did against Santos !

People forget WA went in with Simon and did well !

Tak just followed Santos around all night !

Skill wise - WA has more than Tak..

What exactly does Tak do ?.

He is just basic...

Yeah I've read your opinion DG and that's fine, but read mine re WA and we'll agree do disagree.

Sorry, I feel about Wayne is a very limited in the skill stakes, much the same way you feel about Tak.

Having been British and European champion obviously means Wayne's got something and I wouldn't be so trite as to call his punch against Tak lucky, because he's been winning fights like that since he was a lad. Until the ref waves your hand you are in danger when you're in the ring with Wayne, that's for sure.

He could absolutely chin Santos good and proper, but that's the only way he'll win. He's not gonna win a chessmatch against him that's for sure.

Lesser punchers than Wayne have dropped Santos, if he lands one on him he could definitely knock him out. I'd definitely have a flutter on him if he gets a crack at Santos.

Tak should seriously think about his future, his punch resistance will never be the same after a KO like that.

A win is a win !

Tak was NEVER going to outbox Santos..or anyone else for that matter !

WA has been stopped by Harry SIMON and Mellis.

Simon world class all round fighter.

Mellis - all his wins are by ko and WA was coming back after a long lay off.

He may wobble but he is hard to keep down !

Tak been knocked out twice now.( Jawaid Khaliq as you know )..

Technically - Wayne is better than Tak by a long way..

Apart from defence !

Tak fought a stupid fight. I said on the "Takaloo wants his oats" thread, all he needs to do is soften Alexander up in the early rounds, then take over when the man tires from the middle rounds (Wayne looked in fantastic shape but has never been past eight rounds). But to stand and trade with a known puncher so early!
Jim McDonnell has gone way down in my estimation.

to be fair to takaloo, he didnt stand and trade, he like everyone else thought Wayne was about to go so rushed in to finish it.....

He landed the beauty of a body shot when he was forced into a corner and had to throw something back to hold off Wayne...

True. But to rush in and take a chance like that, even if he thought Wayne was ready to go, was silly in my opinion. Tak had been training in the States all summer and has been 12 rounds several times. He was in too much of a hurry.
Great win for Wayne, though. Boy, John Breen got him in fantastic nick.

i hear what you are saying, but the other side of the coin is that you have a guy hurt, you try finish him.... if Takaloo had let Wayne back into the fight and got stopped later he would have been heavily criticised also ( a la Eubank V Thompson I)

Just playing a bit of devils advocate though ;-)

Yes but didn't McDonnell himself admit Takaloo had gone against the game plan by rushing in, i suppose McDonnell can only give his instructions but once Tak is in the ring it's his call.

Don't have a go at Jimmy Mac. I chatted with him yesterday and he was gutted. Tak disobeyed JM's instructions, he was told quite clearly not to rush in, and to keep his distance. I feel sorry for JM as he spent a lot of time getting him ready for this.

Don't forget, Tak was a 6 round fighter going nowhere b4 linking up with Jimmy, and Danny Williams was a talent who was half-fit and had mental problems when it came to dealing with the fights. Both have now come a hell of a long way, and if Tak can't listen to what Jimmy told him, then he deserves to be KO'd.

Jimmy Mac is not the one at fault here.
