I think he is talking about the World Series of Boxing draft that is scheduled to take place sometime after the World Championships.

I checked the web site. It appears to be some guy's blog about the top heavyweights and his rankings are from November of 2008. There is no information about an actual draft.

Yes - but it doesn't say when, where, who it will involve, etc. I think it's the blogger's "fantasy draft."

it involves all the top amatuer boxers in the world who would be bestly picked for a top promoter on the things that they have done so far in boxing. i shows who would be the best interest for the top boxers in the world as proffesionals

I think I have to concur with Mel that this sounds like someone's 'fantasy draft.'

There is no 'draft' in boxing. If anything, it's whether Don King or Bob Arum can show up with the proverbial suitcase full of money first. :-)

Might just have been a showcase of the 'top 50 prospects' or something.

The amateur "draft" is fun to read sort of like anyone's rankings. Anything that gives people something to discuss related to amateur boxing is a good thing.

Will be interesting to see if the U.S. participates as a franchisee. Since USAB has no money......

The different country NGB's will not own the franchise's. I think there is money in it for them but the franchises are bought privetly like other sport franchises. I have heard different things on the sales of franchises in the US. I have heard that there is no interest and I have heard that they have 3 or 4 different groups interested so who knows. I think Europe and Aisa are all set to go but it is the Americas they still need to get set up.

I've been very skeptical to the WSB from the beginning and thought it'd be a big fiasco but now I've heard most franchises are almost ready.

Asia: cities in China, Kazakhstan, Korea and India

Europe: Moscow, Italy? , and two other cities.

America: Three cities in the US and one in Canada.

I still think there is a long was to go but you never know...

I read and heard that the cities in North America are New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Montreal. The 5 weight classes are strange. HW, LightHW, MW, Lightweight and Bantam. I would have thought they would have picked either welterweight or featherweight instead of bantam.

They are talking to all the top boxers in Milan and those that are from the countries where the franchises are going to be.

It seems completely ridiculous to me, to start something like this, and leave out half the weight divisions... leaving out the fighters from 60-69kg??? Bat shit crazy, if you ask me.
