Wow impressive performance from our boy wonder don't you think? Hitting his novice 3-7-2 opponent when he was on the floor more than once and trying to look hard with a stupid scowl on his face, anybody else hate this obnoxious little prick as much as me? I love the way he smacks novices around and then runs around with his chest puffed out like he is a world champion...he needs to learn a lot in this game.
His trainer/manager whatever Frank Maloney makes me laugh too...to hear him talk every fighter he owns is the best prospect in Britain! Martin Concepcion, Kevin Mitchell, Graham Earl...etc etc Then he makes outrageous statements like "You learn more from sparring than in the ring", at least Barry McGuigan somewhat timidly questioned this statement "I'd just like to pick a bone with what frank said..."
Anyway back to Mitchell, he's a twat and i can't wait for him to fight someone who hits back...the kid has WBU title written all over him
I was suprised that he didn't get a point deducted for the number of times he hit his opponent whilst he was down You could argue Kevin was just over eager, but I felt it was more arrogance and just fighting dirty.
Anyway he does have talent just needs to fight with a bit more control, although these quick blow-out will teach him little IMO. Yes you learn in the gym but there is no substitute for real fighting experience.
Ive hated Mitchell from the first time I saw him, he's a hype job. I remember a few fights back when he fought a guy who looked about 3 weights down from him, Mitchell threw him on the floor and did a stupid scowl and banged his chest, oh man, I wished he got straight back up and knocked him the fornicate out.
He's all hype, they keep saying "he's a big puncher". Thats bullshit, he's faced the lowest of the low and their doesn't look to be anything special about his power at all.
The kid doesn't even jab, all he's done for his first 8 fights is waded in and threw reckless punches until the journeymen fall, its actually an insult to call them journeymen the guys that Mitchell's been fighting they are so bad. He's going down as soon as he steps it up. He has no composure, when someone sticks a jab in his face he won't know how to deal with it and will get reckless and wade in.
How dare they mention Mitchell's name in the same sentence as Amir Khans. Khan's 10 times the fighter and a lot more talented and classy.
I thought the guy Marsh looked better than Mitchell, he had a tough pro debut fight. Marsh looked to have good head movement and will get better, he was a bit frantic because it was his debut and smothered a lot of his work.
Its not often that I genuinely dislike a boxer but I'll make an exception for Mitchell... he's a complete arse and a bully and I predict here that he win not go all the way, bullys seldom do in boxing... whaen he faces someone who can stand up to him he will fold. Aside from the fouls which should have seen him thrown out there doesn't seem anything special about Mitchell except that he is by far the thickest twat I've seen with boxing gloves on in over 30 years of watching the sport.
Why does Darke have to play the yes-man and keep screaming that Mitchell is something special?. ... my arse!!!.. :x :x :x .. have some self-respect mate!
I liked Marsh a lot too... even though Watt kept criticising him!... good all action style and decent defence while on the attack and seemed to be an ok fella in the interview.

Yes I think so, he tried to get into the Olimpics but didn't make it past the qualifying stages. He's actually got a style more suited to the pro ranks... looked like he was getting better as the fight went on... a very good sign! 8) .

Coulnt have put it better myself, my dislike for Mitchell grows after each fight and i cant wait to see him in an ego bashing fight to bring the kid back to reality. His fouling was uncalled for and just proves he likes the bully-boy tactics. If that was Tyson doing the same there would be an outcry.
Don't get me wrong sometimes Mitchell's handspeed and combinations do look decent but i mean, who is he fighting? Once Matthew Marsh calms down and paces himself more he will be quite good, get him a few fights off TV and i think he will not have so much nervous energy to burn, it can't be easy making your debut on TV.
Regarding Frank Maloneys post fight comment on Mitchell when questioned about Mitchells string of quick wins over 'weak' opponents.
Maloney said something along the lines of "that the important thing is that Mitchell is doing his learning in the gym, and that's the most important thing etc etc". This suggests that for a prospect a string of quick easy wins are ok for the fighter (and the paying fans???).
But didn't Maloney say almost the COMPLETE OPPOSITE a few years ago talking about his then prospect Scott Harrison? He used to say how great it was that Harrison (unlike the other Harrison) was not fed a string of weak opponents and almost every fight from the start of his career had been competative and so a great learning exprience for Scott, and how refreshing this was etc etc?
Mitchell's attitude is terrible - bullying a fighter who looked 13 yrs old and just out of hospital, throwing him around, hitting him on the floor, glaring at him.....then leaping up and grabbing his trainer like he won a world title....really odd behaviour.
Also he seems to be going backwards, if you just fight soft fights you become soft yourself....

Boxing for West Ham he was last year's ABA bantamweight champion. However, Nick McDonald is England's number one at the weight and subsequently Marsh wasn't sent to any qualifiers (neither was McDonald).
Matthew is a good little fighter.
