Yes it may well of been news that was public, but would you post something that would taint the character of 'someone you like'? Thats the point I'm making. Wouldnt want to be someone that Ian doesnt like!Asterix wrote:He just posted something that's newsworthy. Simple. Re: Kevin Mitchell drink driving ban
thanks for the post, for a boxer who is, down to fight on a card and 2 weeks before gets nicked for drinking driving he is training really well, maybe this is why he does not fight that much any more the injurys could be a smoke screen for his drinking habits???????
Re: Kevin Mitchell drink driving ban
I cannot believe people on her cannot get it into their heads that any related topic to boxing will be discussed including drink driving offences.Asterix wrote:He just posted something that's newsworthy. I have had few disagreemnets with Ian in the past but he is a genuine poster who shows not one ounce of mallice towards anyone, he just isn't the type.

I cant believe people are having a go at the person who posted this thread
Anyone would think he was the idiot who got pissed and then took to the wheel.
A whole family was wiped out by a drink driver in my village when i was growing up. The kids, a brother and sister, where at the same school in the year above me - so i know all too well the impact of someone getting sloshed and getting behind the wheel.

It's quite odd that someone is getting more stick for starting a thread with a news story in it than a professional athlete in the public eye is for getting behind the wheel whilst over the limitG0mez wrote:I cant believe people are having a go at the person who posted this thread![]()

Re: Kevin Mitchell drink driving ban
Indeed, I've seen the effects of it as well, coming home from the pub one night saw a young woman left completely disabled after some pisshead mounted the path in his Jag. A girl who lived down the street from me as a kid was killed by a drink driver as well.G0mez wrote:I cant believe people are having a go at the person who posted this thread![]()

Any future posts on this thread questioning why Ian will be edited and warnings dished out.
Stay on topic or don't post in it.

Two pages.
You self-indulgent crocheting old women.
Drink-driving. Very bad. A boxer should know when not to go the extra round. But they are always the last to know when to quit.

But don't you (and everyone else) think that it's always cocky sportsmen doing this kind of thing?
Luke McCormick, the Plymouth player killed two young boys (8 and 10) when his Range rover ploughed into their car when he was p*ssed up.
Lee Hughes, after a whiskey binge drove straight into an oncoming car in his big merc, killing a father of four children and left another guy in a wheelchair for life. Got 6 years (served half and now playing again).
Jermain Pennant, wore a tag after being jailed for drinking driving a SECOND time.
Naz Hamed, he ran away from a car crash - why? we can only speculate as to why someone would leave an accident. Got jailed.
It goes on and on.
Re: Kevin Mitchell drink driving ban
So are we not allowed to discuss Tyson's behaviour outside the ring? Scott Harrison's? Next we won't be allowed to talk about Gatti's death.
It's all relevant, hardcore boxing fans want to know more about the fighters they follow than just what happens in the ring.

course it's right to name & shame him,it's dissapointing as he has many young fans who look up to him,a proffessional sportsman
he's a public figure, & public shaming come's with it.

I couldn't believe the pretentious back and forth about whether it should be listed as a topic here.
Bloody mental.

Naz ran away because the long line of drivers he had overtaken like a lunatic prior to the accident had stopped at the crash scene and were all gunning for a fight.G0mez wrote:I hear you David.DavidPayne wrote:Two pages.

He served his time.
I find this sort of stuff boring, these days, reminiscent of the gutter press. Maybe it belongs on a forum and maybe it does not. Personally, I think the poster who headed a recent thread, "Boxer in Trouble", did the right thing. That way you can choose to read it or not.

the annoying thing is that he is hardly someone who cannot afford a bloody taxi !!!!

Dear All.
Whatever some of the posters on here think , i did genuinely start this thread to show what was going on with one of Britains top boxers, in hindsight maybe it wasn't a good idea.
If i've offended anyone , i'm man enough to apologise.

I suppose BN was wrong to put Alexis Arguello on their cover the other week, then. I mean, after all, his death was non-boxing.bennie wrote:Nah, Abrams now always runs these kind of stories, Newsquest lover, and it's non-boxing.oliverfennell wrote:You're like an olive oil salesman interjecting "why YOU need some olive oil" into a general conversation about badgers.bennie wrote:I used to revel in these sort of posts, one Englishman's delight at another man's troubles, but now I realize it can happen to anyone.
