Has anyone even seen Mitchell jab yet? All he's done in his first 8 fights is charge in and load up against guys who are not punching back. Thats not learning to me, not at all. At his current rate of learning he will be 50-0 before having the skills to fight anyone decent. I think he will be exposed soon enough, he's being hyped because he seems to have a ready made fan base. I remember when he had just turned pro, I was reading these articles on big boxing websites about him, like he was the second coming of Ray Robinson or something.

I seem to recall allegedly describing Mitchell as 'better than Naseem Hamed at the same age' when he turned pro. Obviously, he meant in terms of being a cocky git. At least Nas won titles whilst being an insufferable (If undoubtably talented) arsehole. I watched friday nights display with a mate who doesn't follow boxing, and he summed up Mitchells display very well, I thought: "Why the fornicate is he celebrating after beating that 13 year old? He needs a slap."

I will readily admit to knowing very little about boxing, it's why I like to read this forum. But even I can see that this is a hype job from start to finish. Mitchell is going nowhere, as far as my untrained eyes can see: No jab, no defence, and as for his power? I seem to recall the young Hamed fighting similar no-hope opponents. They weren't getting up to get knocked down again.

To echo an earlier post, to compare Mitchell and Amir Khan is disgraceful. We've all seen how talented and modest Khan is. And right now, I can understand why Mitchell went pro: I can't see how he'd have made the olympics, let alone won a medal.

I can see Kevin Mitchell becoming the poor mans Ricky Hatton. Which can't be good,.

I agree that Mitchell will become the new Hatton. He's being hyped to death by Sky, he's got a fanbase who seem not to care about the fact he fights soft opponents, he thinks he's much better than he is, and the fact that all his fights have been on TV gives him an inflated status.

All I can see happening to Mitchell is that he'll either get knocked out, or go on to become WBU "champion of the world" so he can spend his career beating up opponents a weight below him.

Speaking of the WBU, hopefully some of the more serious boxing fans on this forum can answer a question for me - is the WBU title given any respect outside of Britain, or is it just a "nothing" belt that Sky try to claim is a genuine world title?

i agree mitchell imo looks a lot of hype just cannot see him maturing into anything great,at this early stage against very poor class he looks hittable.

I think you already know the answer to that.

As for Mitchell, he should have been DQ'd for his persistant fouls. There's really no reasonable excuse as to why he wasn't (apart from the fact he's the home fighter, and one of Warrens cash-cows). Hitting your opponent while he's down is probably my most hated foul, and should be rewarded with an automatic point deduction first time (regardless of any excuse), and if it happens again the fighter should be slung out. It's a foul that deserves no lenience at all. Regarding the lad himself, maybe he'll mature at some stage, but i wouldn't hold my breath. Personal opinion, he's a scally, or a chav (depending on where you come from), and these antics are here to stay.

Maloney is just full of shit. When it comes to talking about his fighters you can't believe a word he says. I think Frank's trying to take hype and spin to whole new levels, and he's succeeding.

He's not learning anything fighting the kind of fodder they're throwing in with him. He's probably gone backwards and I don't have a clue who his trainer is.

Maloney is also perhaps the biggest bullshiter in the history of boxing. Talks absolute crap at times. I remeber after Tyson Ko'd Francis Maloney was on Sky saying that Lennox would destroy Tyson and that Tyson looked hittable and had no chance. When lewis fired him he completely changed his tune. A very big tit.

I will dislike Mitchell more than I disliked Arthur and it will make his beating even sweeter to watch. Gomez beating up Arthur was a great night. I look forward to seeing Mitchell being banged out.

yeah,I remember that too.He was prancing around in that Union Jack 3pc suit & tophat. Soon as he was dropped by LL , he ditched the suit & was wearing kilts/Scottish attire.
When Scott Harrison fires him I wonder what he'll wear then??

If Napa fought Mitchell at 9 stone 4 that means he hasn't done any training and would get eating alive.

He looked like a mini McDermott at Super Bantam, he admited he had a bit of condition on him.

...and boxing central have announced he is fighting at bantamweight on the Nicky Cook bill

I'm sure fighting someone two weights below him would be ideal preparation for the future WBU Champ Mitchell.
