Those were my thoughts, I'm not involved in the sport (well the pro side) in any sort of way so news of his illness came as a big shock to me (as it did with Fossey).

Very shocked with this news, I was expecting to be seeing him in action on one of the friday bills. My condolenses to the friends of family to the great boxing man.

A bad loss for the sport, this one. It was good to see the way the minute's silence was observed, could have heard a pin drop. RIP Dennie.

Dennie was one of the true originals. I used to have long chats with him at the Lonsdale shop and he always made time for me. He respected my opinions even if they were mad, and that was nice. One of the old school from the days when there was one champion in each weight class and fighters fought each other. He was a key figure in most, if not all, of British boxing's greatest figures.
He was well respected across the pond too. I think we will all miss him.

RIP Dennie.

Boxing News has been ringing round some of his old fighters. All of them are truly devastated. That speaks for itself.
