Andre Dirrell
"I believe Carl Froch is tailor made for me"
"I'll hit him with every single thing I've got, hoping he can withstand it, because I wouldn't mind seeing how much he could take. But I know it wouldn't be twelve rounds' worth"

Which name stands out the most to you?
"Well, Miguel Kessler"
"My biggest concern is not getting cut"
Sorry, but Dirrell really isn't the sharp tool in the shed. With regards to knowing his 3 opponents ahead of time, he said it's great because it gives him an "insurmountable" amount of time to prepare. :??

Jermain Taylor
"I've got Arthur Abraham. He's a short guy who comes to fight. He throws a lot of looping punches. I'm just gonna box him."
"He's a brawler. He's not a boxer. I'm gonna go there and outbox him."

Arthur Abraham
RE: Taylor, "He's very strong man. He have a good fights with Bernard Hopkins, with William Joppy. He's very strong guy. Maybe for me is no problem. I go to win. I go never to lose."
I like Abraham. He seems cool. :TU: He also says he will fight in America. His aim is to become a big name and a legend.

Carl Froch
The interviewer calls him Carl Frock during the introduction! :oo
What do you really know about Andre Dirrell?
"Not a great deal, to be honest. I've watched one round of him fight, but I'm not one for studying fighters. I won't site for hours through tapes watching fighters."
"He's got fast hands. He's not a big puncher. He's quite skilful. He's a switch hitter. He's leery. He appears to be confident, but, when I take him into the trenches and give him some of the guerilla warfare that I bring to the table, we're gonna learn a lot about him."

Mikkel Kessler
Kessler says he's going to give Ward a surprise. :DD

ward wasn't there as he had the flu. obviously with six fighters, something can always go wrong and this has been shown even in the publicity. hopefully everyone's OK when they have to fight

Interesting that Froch now has changed his tact on what he thinks he does best. From being a guy who will outbox or smoke somebody`s boots, he now goes for take them into the trenches.
I think he has finally realised where his true strengths - and weaknesses are :-?

Of course I realise Froch is a good puncher, but I also think he is only a moderate puncher at world level. His chin whilst solid enough, will be really tested against harder hitters than Taylor.

I looks to be an excellent tournament. Hopefully this will only be the start of this type of thing.

Hopefully Tonyevs it depends on the opposition. Whereas taking him to the trenches seems to be the obvious tactic for a fighter like Dirrell, is it really the best option when coming against a Kessler or Abraham?
I can't see him winning these fights unless he can change his style somewhat... if he is capable of that

Having been sunk by Froch by a body shot, i can confirm he hits like a sledgehammer. He had 18oz grants on too.

Although i'm not even cul de sac class, let alone world class - i can confirm he can bang hard enough to put any human being away in his weight class if he lands correctly.

moderate at world level, maybe, but he did KO Taylor, something only a pre-Hopkins Pavlik had done. Taylors no slouch chin wise ,and Carl stopped him.

when he put his shots together he got taylor out of there. i think he needs to punch in combination to stop good fighters. he was more one punch at a time v pascal - who can obviously take a shot after his war with diaconu - and while he shook pascal a few times he never quite looked like he was going to put him away.

Taylor was exhausted the last couple rounds, which helped a great deal with Froch finally getting the stoppage. Untill Taylor gassed is, it looked like Taylor was the guy with the superior punch power :-?

Christ, that's a brutal barrage of shots.

Froch is undoubtedly the biggest puncher there, Abraham isn't going to bang as hard at 168, and he looks a lot smaller too.

Taylor is no way the bigger puncher than Froch, and I wonder how much he has left after three brutal fights in recent times.

I make Kessler and Froch pretty even favourites, with Kessler with the slight advantage.

Andre Ward is a massive talent, but I think he is going to lack the experience - if he does manage to win it, then he's going to be a superstar.

shame that the press tour doesn't come to the UK. one of the tournament's first bouts is over here in blighty FFS

are ITV just going to fvcking tuck it away on a fringe PPV channel and let it sink, perhaps? 24/7 show on ITV4 inspiring a few lads to fork out their money for some real hardcore fights

i think abraham is a massive puncher at super middle. he looked like he wasn't even trying when he sank miranda in their 166-pound catchweight rematch

I think Abraham is the biggest puncher. His knockouts are often brutal. I can't see Froch doing to Gevor what Abraham did.

kessler can punch but his shots have cumulative effect. if he can jab you round after round he'll break your face up and TKO you, as with lucas, siaca etc.

tell that German fella beginning with B (whose name as ever i have forgotten) that kessler's punches only have a cumulative effect  you know the one he strecthed in the 3rd.

anyway, 'cumulative effect', you mean like the Froch who didn't stop Taylor until blah blah blah...?

tell Andrade Kessler can't punch more than cumulatively, andrade attackes nearly everyone with total gusto, yet i seem to recall he had quite a lot of respect fo kessler's power.

put another way i am not sure ANY of these fighters have too much proven one punch KO power at world level, at 168lbs. that includes Froch.

How exactly have you gauged the punch resistance of world class boxers in Froch's weight class? Surely there was more to it than 'if it hurts me it's bound to hurt them'.

I think the only reason Abraham seemed a little introverted there was because his English is very limited. The shots he took out Miranda with at Super middleweight certainly looked heavy enough to take out any of these guys i expect him to be more active when he's not so drained too.

well he showed late power on taylor, and got the stoppage when he finally launched a sustained attack. while it isn't one punch power, it is power nonetheless. some will say taylor was tired, but so was froch...he also shook pascal a few times and pascal showed a good chin vs a strong world class light heavy (diaconu). a number of posters seemed to feel that froch could have got him out of there if he'd fought a more controlled fight.

i definitely think abraham is going to be powerful. he has destroyed good middleweights like ikeke, gevor and oral and was simply devastating in the miranda rematch up at super middle. abraham appeared to have one punch power as miranda was getting shaken or going down suddenly from single shots.

is it hard power or soft power, early or late power, is it pristine celestial power or the kind of power that corrupts absolutely...? etc
