would you beleive theres yet another belt being awarded by another body!!!

just found out that Willie Limmond is to fight (date and venue to be announced) France's Ali Oubaali for the ..... wait for it....

the European Community (EEC) super-featherweight title.

someone somewhere must be making this up!!

Yeah, I'm afraid its not that new a belt. I believe its more commonly known as the EU belt and Limond won the title in his last fight.

id never heard of it before. so if the EBU is behind itis it seperate from the EBU belts? or can you be both the European champ and the EC champ simultaniously?

the whole things a fuckin joke.

The EU (EEC) belt is in effect equivalent an EBU Inter-Continental title. In that it caters for fighters outside the top twenty.

Hide v Williams was meant to be for that belt if I'm not mistaken, once Hide 'lost' to Medog Kanlickisballus.

According to the EU website, the following are all members..

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania,Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

With an application pending from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

the list seems to include all the major european boxing countries, the UK, ireland, italy, france, germany etc

So with the exception of Switzerland, who never join anything and have no fighters anyway and Albania, what European countries are missing?

Loads. There's at least 40 odd countries in Europe.

I'd be up for that. You make the fighter pay for the belt as part of their fees, then get a bog standard one from someone like beltster.com. Chuck in a few hundred quid fees and you're off and earning money. Low overheads too. I'd say that all you need is a decent website and a bit of marketing and you're away, but a lot of the bodies don't even have that.

Don't tell Steve689 though, or he'll have his GBO buddies on us.
