He doesnt give him a boxing lesson, he doesn't even come off best and yes it is only a spar

I must have clicked on the wrong video because Khan certainly didn't get schooled. Godding is a talented unbeaten fighter with a good dig. He also has the long and rangy style to trouble Khan. Khan looked good. Picked his shots fairly well. Tailed off towards the end.

Height is the main thing that troubles Amir. He used to get fairly well outboxed by John o'donnel by all accounts. I don't think this sparring is at all significant.

PS Godding is indeed a very good talent. IO first watched Godding when stopped in one round by mathew Hall in the amateurs. Morcombe I think it was. He's improved since then.

Good stuff.

Sorry if this link has been posted; but I found this clip of Khan sparring Steven O'Meara (had not heard of him) who's 8-0.

maybe you missunderstand the idea of sparring. To put it in pespective, Khan olympic silver medalist was easily out pointing his eager to impress sparring partner whilst practicing.

No, not schooled, but hardly looks great when about to fight for the world title.

Also seems rick is not much of a puncher and a welter, so not exactly way too big to spar
the idea of sparring is to practice certain moves and stratagies not knock out your partner!

i know rick godding he is a good friend of mine, he was a fantastic amateur boxed for chorley abc and also in the army, his pro record doesnt suggest that he is a puncher but i know that ricks power is very underated as he has only faught journey men to date and he has more of a counter puncher style and hasnt had many fighters coming at him.

Yeah I was going to mention this, Godding is a good puncher. looks really heavy handed. Reminds me a bit of Chris Pyatt.

He can't be heavy handed or Khan wouldn't have been sparring him.

There's no way they would have made Khan spar Pacquiao just before the fight in an open training session. :shame:

I see nothing in the youtube clip that`ll give Kotelnik further confidence. He too will know its only sparring.

rick is very underated fighter very classy and talented :TU: , it doesnt make amir look bad just shows how talented rick is and should be as he gets plenty of good sparring at his gym with good fighters, amir is talented too dont win olympic silvers and so many wins as a pro etc with no talent

Yep, Ricks under-rated and had a hard time with fighters pulling out on him at the last minute and tough journeymen having to step in. He hardly wastes a punch, is a mature boxer, and his counter-punching is excellent.
Ricks a nice lad and hopefully should get a break soon, defo one to watch in my opinion, fights out of Elite with Karl Ince.

THIS IS A LIGHT SPAR! HE WAS BEATING LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT UNBEATEN PROSPECTS IN THE WILDCARD GYM! FACT..WELL AMIR KAHN SPARRD WITH PAC-MAN AND WON SOME OF THE SPARS..DOESN'T MAKE HIM THE BETTER FIGHTER THEN MANNY..KAHN WOULD KNOCK THIS GUY OUT IN A BOUT

yea he is an impressive fighter, and i spoke to him last night and he is very flattered by some of the comments on here and on youtube, but he is a good down to earth lad and knows he is a long way from the standard of khan and is still learning , but if he giving khan a good spar which he obviously is then thats good for them both right,
also in my opinion thats better than showing a video of khan knocking a moving punchbag round the ring to make him look good.

The thing which still troubles me wit Khan in this vid is still his defence, he's still open to shots and so long as Kotelnik is quick enough I can see him getting a few big shots in during the fight and rocking Khan.
