Forget the titles, and look at the opponents.

In all honesty, career wise I would say they are on par with each other yet through their relevant promoters and marketing one has a world title shot and the other is still fighting at British level.

Frank knew after the Prescott fight he had a short space of time to cash in on Khan, there was not a hope in hell he was going to put him against Murray or Thaxton to see him get chinned again for peanuts when a bit of clever match making seen him in with Barrera and then hey presto a world title shot.

the fact is warren / khan arent dodging murray, he's just insignificant same with the british title.

i don't think murray "waited until fight 27" to fight lawton. i think his career has been moved slowly, even though he is young, and that early last year murray and his trainer were making noise to get fights like thaxton and have often come across to me as being at odds with - or at least not on exactly the same page - as their promoter. let's not forget he wanted lawton as a quick defence months earlier on a thaxton undercard, so he could challenge thaxton for the EBU title and in the same fight keep the lonsdale belt. obviously the belt thing went wrong, for both fighters, one losing it out the ring, one losing it in the ring.

he has beaten good brits meager (former british champ) and mcallister (current commonwealth champ) by stoppage and 4 fights ago was down to face highly touted john fewkes

i hope kotelnik KOs khan as well. in a good fight. i wanted maidana to mash ortiz and i'd prefer something similar to happen to khan. everything is too preordained, like you can just choose whom the next great fighter will be. props to ortiz - and to khan - for steppng up, but i don't think given the quality of their fighting they are worthy of the stages being set up for them.

kotelnik probably won't keep khan off PPV. if he knocks khan out, perhaps they will do a Bruno i.e. "all he needs to do is learn how to hold on for dear life for the last 6 rounds" - then he can be champion. i will laugh my arse off at their strained attempts to keep khan as a major attraction. i think this is why i am paying the £15, just to watch these greedy maniplulative buffoons dress things up.

It's different if you clean up a division and become the widely regarded best in that division like Haye & Pacquiao. Khan cannot claim to have proven himself to be the best lightweight in the world before moving up to LWW. There is a massive difference!

Murray just needs to get a new promoter in my opinion. I know the grass is not always greener on the other side, but he's been moved far to slowly over the last couple of years. Hennessy hasn't been able to get him the type of opponants he needs, and didn't even make the Thaxton fight when he promotes both fighters.

You can argue about the Khan fight not happening, because Fwank and Khan are not interested, but why wait till Thaxton has lost his European title to make that fight?

I do get the feeling that Murray is being schooled the proper way and i like that, learning and improving all the time, taking time going through the traditional title routes, Murray actually wants Thaxton next. Ultimately I do think it's possible he could achieve more than Khan in the pro's.

Khan's career now has a rushed feel to it, quickest way to a world title and all that, it could very well be that Frank wants to cash in as soon as possible after what happened with Prescott. I'm really disappointed that Khan has been taken this route in a different weight division, I would much rather him have faced his domestic rivals at lightweight first something Murray is going to be doing.

Let's not be fooled into thinking Khan deserves this world title shot, it is all down to his boss' magic and nothing else.
