amir khan makes me sick
Re: amir khan makes me sick
I like Amir and hope he wins on Saturday. Yes he has a weak chin but so has Wlad Klitschko, and I think succeeding in spite of this will be to his credit. I also think the manner in which he has bounced back from the Prescott loss is to be praised. I think many of us dislike the way prospects are built today but I don't think Amir is guiltier than othrs in this respect.

SweetScience - In addition your reply is pathetic way of weedling out of what you initially wrote - to which you got my first short reply!!!
People should not have to come on here worrying if they write their opinions what people in the sport think of them - a person should be able to come onto this forum give his/her opinion and not sh*t themselves whether someone in boxing is going to bully them just because they have wrote an opinion.
And as for your comment concerning "The Trade" hating people on these forums - do they f*ck - they come on here themselves in their droves to see firstly what has been written and many of them contribute themselves - People within boxing, jornalists, TV people all sample these forums - if they disliked us that much - why on earth even read the place - in addtion why feel so threatened by places such as forums if its just a load of sh*t??? - as the phrase goes - "you dont kick a dead dog"

I do because he smashed Barrett up. I didn't before that.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Oh so you don't rate Haye a top10 HW, how hypocritical are you? Actually Barrera was a top10 LW and deserved the nod over Marquez
How silly are you?
Barrera/Marquez wasn't at lightweight, so it shouldn't be ranked at 135lbs.
Re: amir khan makes me sick
UTTER SHITE, if the undisputed super featherweight champ moved up to Lightweight would he be ranked in the top ten at Lightweight, answer yes.
Why is different with the heavies. Consistency people.
Utter nonses spoken on here at times really pathetic shite, I really wonder aobut the gene pool at times.

Agree 100%. People act as if heavyweight boxing is another sport. Haye's achievements at cruiser were entirely valid for a top 10 ranking a division up. People act as if he's only had 2 fights period!J wrote:UTTER SHITE, if the undisputed super featherweight champ moved up to Lightweight would he be ranked in the top ten at Lightweight, answer yes.

Re: amir khan makes me sick
I'm sorry but you can't rank a fighter in the top 10 of a division if they haven't beaten a top 10 opponent can you? Achievements at a lower weight shouldn't give you a free pass should they? I mean you wouldn't rank the winners of the Championship in the top 10 of the Premiership before they'd proven it would you?
Re: amir khan makes me sick
Apples and oranges, Banj. Nonito Donaire is moving from flyweight to super flyweight. Where would you rate him as a super flyweight? Easily top 10. How about Arthur Abraham as a super middleweight? Easily top 10.banjo wrote:I'm sorry but you can't rank a fighter in the top 10 of a division if they haven't beaten a top 10 opponent can you? Re: amir khan makes me sick
Spud - yeah you'd piss yourself if Khan lost. Excellent informative comment that one (high five!). Im sure people in the boxing trade would really come on here to take on board worthwhile comments like that
!!
He's 22 for F*cks sake and wanting to do the best he can give the lad a break. What exactly is your problem with HIM that youd get all over excited to see him lose? Like him or not, and I do, he brings interest to the sport and apart from his driving skills comes accross as a good lad and does alot for the local community, charity, and boxing.
I agree with sweet science. Seems people like to make a name for themselves on here and slagging off the more 'popular' boxers we have in this country - those who extend the intrest of the sport to the casual boxing fan. Why shouldn't Amir take advantage of the opportunity placed before him? And Im sure you would take advantage of an opportunity to work with Team Khan should you get the chance!!! Whats the point in you pretending otherwise!

Re: amir khan makes me sick
of course it's good that khan has the opportunity. however his career hasn't been that impressive considering his speed, his mobility.
surely khan should be a BIG name by now. everyone knows his name, but few know who he's fought or what he's really achieved. because for all the money, all the raw talent, he's done nothing exceptional whatsoever. the FW fingerprints are there on just about every fight (i.e. super feather moving up, puncher with his arms tied behind his back) which kills the drama before the bout even happens. sat's fight is a good 'un, though.
if khan wins, i just doubt he fights the mandatory, maidana. bet they try and get an extension, fight someone like steve forbes, and ditch the belt. if i sound cynical i've been conditioned to be.

So prior to beating hatton Pac wasnt a top ten light welter.
utter complete shite. Sorry mate. Dont agree.
Re: amir khan makes me sick
err pac is a natural lightweight these days id say, 135 next fight will be at 145.
10 or so % rise.
Aside form this it was killing haye to get to 14.4 stone and would be getting in the ring 15.+ stone on fight night id guess, lets not be fooled by what he weighed in at here, he is fighting at his natural weight now of say 230.
So he has put around a 14 Lbs or so on extra from when he was a cruiser to entering the ring as a heavy, thats 6%.
Next load of nonsense that needs putting straight?

amir khan is a fraud , total hype
*he hasnt beaten anyone in the top 15-20
*his whole career has been made to avoid anyone with a punch - except prescott
*his whole career has been made to fight guys much physically smaller than him - except prescott
*before that famous minute vs prescott , the deluded one thought that he deserved to fight pacquaio
*ricky hatton was his best friend and he didnt want to fight him , why the change after the hatton/pacquaio fight???
*why no rematch with prescott??? , why no thaxton fight???
*why is khan already talking about ditching the WBA title if he wins it?? - see his next mandatory fight = a guy with a punch
im sorry but allegedly know amir has no chin at all , thats the reason he has been fighting much smaller and older guys
to top it off khan is fighting for the WBA title , who exactly is the real champion?? , how many fake champions do the WBA make for each weight??
ive always said that khan was no better than audley harrison , at least audley wanted to fight the best in the uk and guys with a punch.
amir khan has fought 1 guy in the top 20...he lasted 60 secs.........facts do not lie
*sighs*
There will be a full house at the MEN saturday hoping a young British boxer wins a world title. The atmosphere is going to be fantastic, i cant wait to go.
So why dont you give Bob Cratchet the day off , buy the biggest goose in all of london and stop acting like a deranged and angry old woman at a care home?
Re: amir khan makes me sick
Thats an interesting comment coming from someone who is quoting hatye having to go up 25% of his body weight .....as if haye wants to weigh as much as Klitchko, this info is irrelevant Mr Speaker

Re: amir khan makes me sick
ok if he fights butterbean then its 200% of his body weight.
Haye KO1.
irrelevant m'lud.
D
Oh and for the record haye weighs similar to Ali did when active in the 70s..food for thought.

Re: amir khan makes me sick
I totally get you point but by the same reckoning Spinks (who came up from light heavy) shouldnt have beat Ali, the bigger man injury prone and the end of his career? Sound familiar? Either way the figures in your first post are bollox and thats point i was trying to prove.
Lopez isnt fookin 16 stone 3 and six foot 3 is he donut.

Funny you should say that since you were guilty of that back when you were running the ESB forum and banned half the members of THIS BOARD because they criticized the company you were working for at the time.Spud wrote:SweetScience - In addition your reply is pathetic way of weedling out of what you initially wrote - to which you got my first short reply!!!

Anyone like myself who believes a fighter should eliminate the domestic fighters first before moving up isnt going to like the way Khan/Warren have gone about things. Truth is, its not who you beat to get to the top, its who you avoid in getting there. Khan has had a relatively easy ride fighting smaller men. However he nearly came unstuck twice though, against Limond and Gomez. Prescott was an unknown, ranked a hundred and something, until he beat Khan. Although Prescott was unbeaten, many of his victories came against boxers who had never even won a fight. His KO ratio looked brilliant but he got his KOs fighting bums. If Khan hadnt been so arrogant thinking he was going to have an easy night, and if he could take a punch, he could have won the fight on points or a late stoppage. They thought MAB being smaller and past his best would be no match for Khans speed. After the head injury the fight should have been stopped, but they let it go on until after the 4th so Khan could get the win. I really dont see based on Khans career to date anything special and why he should be challenging for a World title, albiet not the best belt to have. If Khan wins by a contraversial decision he will be about as popular as Audley Harrison. He isnt liked and respected much by fighters or fans now so unless it was a fair and conclusive win over Kotelniik I think he would find himself as being the most unpopular fighter in Britain today. Unless Kotelnik can KO Khan I can see the judges giving Khan the decision by 4/5 rounds, whereas it should be the other way round. Other than that a Calzaghe/Manfredo scenario around the 6th round. IMO Khan just isnt good enough to beat Kotelnik without the help of the ref or the judges.

I cant believe that Spud had the nerve to post that, he's either a simpleton who thinks we are all as thick as he is, or a genious trickster, having a laugh at our expense*

"nearly" isnt the same as "did"
"nearly" is what makes boxing worth watching

Re: amir khan makes me sick
I don't think there's any debate over whether he's worth watching - we'll all be tuning in I bet cause it's interesting whether you love or hate him.
Watching the build up to this the Barrera win does stick in my throat a bit, cause they bang on about how it's propelled him into World Level, despite Barrera being too small and too old, and that's without considering the fact he couldn't see and Khan still failed to hurt him. Weird. They even talk like Khan stopped him, when in truth an accidental cut stopped him. Khan couldn't even bang Barrera out blinded!
Anyway, rant over, the point is that if Limond and Gomez could wobble Khan he's clearly not the prospect he's being made out to be, he's just the only real cash cow around.
And I hate to say but Khan could stop Kotelnik if he is inactive for even five seconds, cause you better believe the ref will be dying to jump in and stop it, IMO of course.
