16 July 2009 Super Boxer
What did everyone think?
From the highlights we saw Moloney didn't have a great night which could be a real worry if he expects good things in the Australian Contender...
Andre Meunier has one of the strangest physiques I have ever seen, thick back, skinny arms, strange torso... it also looked like he didn't really know how to throw a punch. Still got a decent stoppage of Heta though.
Wasn't impressed with Mark Quon, didn't really show a lot against limited opposition.
Pittman was poop and he knew it. Will he come back bigger and better?
Pupu'a landed some good shots but tired when faced with the constant pressure from Tiger Tim Bell who quite simply won the battle of attrition.

Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
Have to agree ^
Andre Meunier is one big unit though - technique not the best and the upercuts he was throwing were straight out of closing time at the pub.
Pitmann was ordinary - don't know what the future holds for him definately not world class
Tiger Tim Bell is a solid local fighter but ain't no world beater
Good to see boxing on free to air and I hope it continues - is there any news as to wether they have more fights planned?

I agree with the posts made already. (Although I didn't watch all of the Tim Bell fight).
Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
They said last night it was the second of four shows. I was hoping for a few more than that :(

As far as i know/have heard, the four july fights are the only planned ones, then they're goin to see how it goes before commiting to more.
Let's hope they do. Even if it's only once a month rather than weekly.
Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
The only thing i can say, Is there are far better fighters they could be showcasing on these programs.
If there going to only show 4 fights a night why not put some really entertaining fighters. The average person watching dosnt want to watch a guy like Bell just maul and grind out a win. They want to see some action packed wins by stoppage. At least for the first 4 weeks they should have had guys like
Lenny Zappa, Jackson Asiku, Robbie Bryant, Frank LoPorto, Ranee Ganoy, Medley etc. Guys that put it all on the line and will give entertainment in every fight.
I suppose Vea-McKracken was action packed and thats the fights the show needs every card for all 4 fights.
At least for the first few shows to get the general publics interest.

Great post, everything you said was spot on, however Tim Bell was apparently the show case and the inspiration behind the concept according to a article i read before the first show, don't know if it was good idea.
I'm 100% positive Kali Meehan said he was fighting on a Newcastle show soon.

Im not having dig at Bell either he is great tough fighter.
Its just that the public want to see KO's. Its not what real boxing fans want but the public does.
If they had some really action pack fights with some KO's they will get more ratings. Then they can start puting on the longer fights and showcasing more fighters.
Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
last nights card was disapointing.
Bell vs Papua, Tim has one of the best chins and stamina, but his speed and punching accuracy are woeful, a fighter with great speed will pick him apart.
Not to sure why Papua thought he won the fight and why he thinks Sydney will give him a fair shake, his corner told him throughout the fight he was losing.
Pittman vs Ciampa lets be honest it was a extremely ugly fight, it reminded of 2 women fighting, they were throwing pawed punches.
If Pittman wants these big fights he needs to stop fighting guys with 7-13 records, surely he learn't from the sturm fight that you can't win a world title fighting clubfighters as preperation. Plenty of good comp for him here and in NZ.
Quon vs Thai fighter; Quon doesn't have the power to be considered any threat to the bantam division, maybe a fight against Mundraby and Innazzo is as big a fight as he will get.
Muenier vs Heta; Boxrec have these guys listed as fighting once before with Heta winning the first, funnily enough Muenier was listed as undefeated, and when interviewed he stated he was undefeated. Good revenge win for Muenier .
All in all, disappointing night, crowd was small, there was empty seats, no celebritys like in the first show, boring fights ect.
It also appeared the 2 best fights weren't aired.
Look forward to next weeks card.

I'm glad I rigged up set top box to the bedroom TV. I managed to pinch a snooze here & there
Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
u know what makes me laugh? everyone is so quick to judge the boxers, yet do any of u even know them! how hard they train and the courage it actually takes to get in the ring and fight. how many of u are boxers? have the balls to go toe to toe knowing u might get ur head kicked in?? tell me that?!
Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
Can you tell the difference between boxers & belt chasers?? :Plil_kfuc wrote:u know what makes me laugh? everyone is so quick to judge the boxers, yet do any of u even know them! how hard they train and the courage it actually takes to get in the ring and fight. how many of u are boxers? have the balls to go toe to toe knowing u might get ur head kicked in?? tell me that?!

Maybe you should watch the fights last night and tell us what part of the night was the best for you. It seems to me the 10HD boxing program is being flushed down the shitter by agenda's of certain people.
It makes me wonder why Piper Vs Melony fight wasnt shown, Instead they had Quon and Menier's fights on.
Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
My mate, trainer of the century Keefy wanted his head on TV as much as he could. As Piper nor Moloney were his.... they got the flick.
Fark a good fight & OZ title......showing off his new corner outfit was by far more important

Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
the difference between a belt chaser and a boxer ?? hahahahahahaaa mate with fighting comes the opportunity to take a shot at a title, so all boxers set out to win titles and take belts, its not about chasing em. if ur not worthy - u dont get a shot at a belt.. u cant chase it if it isnt there?!

Re: 16 July 2009 Super Boxer
Do you box mate?

I dont see what your getting all stroppy over LIL Fcuk, No one is having a dig at the Boxers in this thread. There having a go at the way the program was televised and who was on TV.
Do you as a former fighter think they are showcasing the right fighters and fights for TV. Or do you have an agenda on here also??
