Re: Prospect Tony Aitcheson jailed
What a disaster.
Serve his time and he'll be out in 16 months. There will still be enough opportunity on his release to make up for lost time at his relatively young age.

Re: Prospect Tony Aitcheson jailed
BBBoC rules mean he can't get licence back until sentence is completly served, so that means the full 32 months, and its not a garuntee he'll get it back after that
Re: Prospect Tony Aitcheson jailed
It's not a disaster. Read the court report. He is clearly an arsehole. I never understand the people who look at it purely as boxing's loss. Would you feel the same if it was your head he was stamping on??
Good riddance.

Is it not a disaster for the lad who lost two teeth and two dental implants in the attack and had to have four false teeth fitted. The same lad who suffered cuts to his head and lip??deadpan wrote:It's not a disaster. Read the court report. He is clearly an arsehole. What a shitty excuse for assault.Mr Tassou said his client had agonised over whether or not to turn professional or remain an amateur and chase his dream of Olympic glory in 2012.

True but this isn't always the case. If his manager can convince the board that prison has reformed him and that boxing is part of keeping him on the straight and narrow then they may give him his license back early. They did it with Leeds prospect Tommy Broadbent after he got out of the clink.Old bones Ian wrote:BBBoC rules mean he can't get licence back until sentence is completly served, so that means the full 32 months, and its not a garuntee he'll get it back after that

As soon as I saw the title of this thread I thought 'booze'.
And there it is in the first sentence.
What a load of bollocks for all concerned.

Oh, a head stamper eh?........brave lad. Big loss to the game I'm sure.
Solicitor sounds like a mug too, if I'd assaulted a weaker person, like a coward, I really would not want my solicitor pouring it on about how talented and dedicated to boxing I was.

Re: Prospect Tony Aitcheson jailed
'Aitcheson saw "red" outside a takeaway restaurant in Batley after believing his girlfriend Samantha Gilbert had been insulted'.
So I take it Aitcheson's girlfriend wasn't assualted, he just 'believed' she was. He didn't know for sure at the time 100% if she was or wasn't and I imagine his girlfriend just stood back and watched even if this bloke didn't assault her. A top AM boxer about to turn pro is entitled to conduct himself in the right manner 'believing' is no firm evidance, I take it he did not see an 'assult'. But then what do you do if your girlfriend claims she was? Its a hard one really, your first reaction would be to get who had and make them pay, I can understand that...That is why these young up and coming sportsmen need to make sure they have the right woman around them because I get the feeling that there are some out there who are just there for the supposed 'glamour' and feel special having people 'fight' over them, like the attention. This also shows that being out getting drunk, falling into takaways doesnt mix with being a pro boxer/sportsman. This has caused misery all the way round, for the bloke who got attacked and the one who is/was about to turn pro, beause of booze..........Booze is bad news.

Re: Prospect Tony Aitcheson jailed
It said "insulted" not "assaulted"
Still doesn't excuse a despicable and cowardly act.

Ok my mistake, got side tracked in writing post.banjo wrote:It said "insulted" not "assaulted"

But to your point, yes for an "insult" it was a despicable and cowardly act and even worse for just 'believing' not obviously being sure but on another note (my mis-qoute) I wouldn't call it wrong for an assault on your girlfriend/wife.

Anyone can get in a fight if he feels threatened or someone with him, anyone lose it and hit someone but:
"He was seen on CCTV repeatedly hitting one victim before punching another man, Alan Samme, in the face – knocking him to the floor" plus he's a trained boxer.....
"You can be seen on CCTV footage taking a step back, running at him and stamping to the front of his face"
That is excessive violence. Yes the sentence seems long but I was not in the courtroom so didn't hear all the details, plus he may be a good guy when sober but if you commit a serious crime when drunk you have to pay your debt....
Re: Prospect Tony Aitcheson jailed
a (weaker person)ha are you havin a laugh! Tony weighs in at 9 and a half stone.if any one has suposed to hav seen the vidoe evidence it was seen three against one and 2 were rugby players probably weighing in at no less then 14st each!! the one who ended up with less teeth, like a coward as you qouted, stuck out his hand to shake with tony and cowardly tried to punch him. watch the video and sshhhhh you know nowt!!!NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:Oh, a head stamper eh?........brave lad.
