Tiger Tim Bell
Tiger Tim Bell
He fights Walter Pupu'a tomorrow. Boxrec has given it 3 stars. I'm not sure it's that good, but it is for some silverware. I reckon Bell should knock him around (Walter Pupu'a lost convincingly to Paul Murdoch). But more importantly, Bell is getting ranked by the major sanctioning bodies.
What are his best options after this fight (hope i don't mozz him)

Re: Tiger Tim Bell
If he wants another fight in Australia I reckon he should go for Zac Awad. He has already beaten Porky
and McKay, Green would seem out of the question and I doubt they could get Foley in the ring with him, so Awad is probably the best option and might be tempted by a regonal strap...
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Hears my take, Tim is domestically our best LT heavy and is better than the rest of Australian/NZ fighters out there, except Green who i personally think is a class above, so logically he needs to import or travel to get himself to the next level, then maybe Green if he's not 40.toppity wrote:He fights Walter Pupu'a tomorrow. No offence to Kane Mckay(tough S.O.B) but Bell has with the exception of Kane gone backwards since his big win over Porky and can't really see this fight tonight being a true test.
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
I would like to see Bell VS Porky again. The fight was a cracker and Porky had to deal with a few issues going into the fight. I think the rematch could be a huge domestic matchup. What about the main supporting bout for Green - RJJ.Hounddawg wrote:Hears my take, Tim is domestically our best LT heavy and is better than the rest of Australian/NZ fighters out there, except Green who i personally think is a class above, so logically he needs to import or travel to get himself to the next level, then maybe Green if he's not 40.toppity wrote:He fights Walter Pupu'a tomorrow. I would like to see him fight Porky again, it would be interesting to see what Porky would do different.
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Tim is fit, i'll give him that.
But he needs more pop in his punches. To go further he will need more dimensions to his style. He will not be able to always rely on outworking his opponent.

That is a great idea!!!ben k wrote:I would like to see Bell VS Porky again. The fight was a cracker and Porky had to deal with a few issues going into the fight. I think the rematch could be a huge domestic matchup. What about the main supporting bout for Green - RJJ.
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Last night they said they have made an offer to WBA title holder (I just can't call him a champion) Gabriel Campillo to come to Aus and defend his belt. If that happens it is huge.
And surely if he gets that fight later in the year and Green goes on to fight RJJ later in the year, Bell v Green for the WBA Light Heavyweight Title mid way through next year would have to happen!!!

Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Let's be honest, he is a solid australian level fighter but that is it. Sure he is tough, but very limited.

Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Tim should have had a chat to Pittman last night about the dangers of moving into the top league.
Of the 4 LH champs Campillo is certainly the most beatable.
Bell is tough with a big heart but Jeff Harding he ain't.
Pity Pupua didn't turn up to fight. Bell V Danny Green Green by tko.

Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Hard to argue with any of that TRP...
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Green would stop him within 3 rounds IMO. Bell is tough as but easy to hit and his come forward spoiling style would play right into Greens hands.
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
I still reckon if he gets the belt he will fight Green. Or maybe Mundine would then decide to move up to LH :x
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
No matter what I can't really see him making a successful defence so why not try and cash in...
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Bostic will take a fight with Bell if hes prepared to put up his belts!!!
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
I think he's after a world title fight mate, I think you should get Bostic a bit of ring time first at LT heavy, Bell lacks the skill, but his fitness and chin are world class......... I have to admit I was impressed with Bells ability to take a bit shot and his ability to maintain constant pressure for 12 rounds.N2 Shape wrote:Bostic will take a fight with Bell if hes prepared to put up his belts!!!
Not trying to build Bell up, because IMO the right fighter will beat Bell easily, I just think a guy who was struggling with weight recently will not compete against a very fit and durable guy.
Take nothing from Bell he clearly won the fight, but IMO Papua technically was the better fighter he just couldn't match the pressure Bell was applying.
N2 shape i really hope to see a couple of your boys here in Australia soon.
If your after a big scalp Jamie Pittman looks very vunerable ATM, check out his last fight. Don't let the 19-1 throw you.
Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Houndawg as always respec your opinions. I agree right now Bostic isnt in the sort of shape he'd need to be for 12 rounds against Bell. Bostic will fight twice here in NZ in August the first fight at Cruiser the 2nd closer to the light-heavy limit. If a Bell fight was put on the table we'd happily take it give we had at least 6 weeks to prepare.
I feel Bostic has the style, experience, height in reach to trouble Bell. The biggest thing people forget is guys like Bostic are sparring world class opposition all the time back home in the US or over in Europe. Guys like Bell most probably havent had the same exposure. SParring is different than actual fighting of course. But Bostic is a VERY good 16-3 fighter.

Re: Tiger Tim Bell
Mate don't doubt his exposure to good sparring, but your six week prep should be cardio and thats it, I wasn't saying Tim is unbeatable, just that he doesn't ever look like getting stopped and his endurance is triathelon material.
I hope the fight comes off.

Re: Tiger Tim Bell
MY reference to the sparring was simply stating that alot of the international guys at Bostics level especially are used as sparring opponents for World Champs and Top contenders until they reach that stage themsleves or IF they reach that stage. We tend to get this isolation complex and us kiwis get it to, especially when comparing records etc they often if ever tell the complete truth.
Bostic VS Bell would be a great fight and a good test for both. I think Bostic easily outboxes him for a UD, hopefully we will find out in the next 12 months but i fear Bells team may want to stare clear of tall, long, boxers of Bostics caliber.
