McIntosh brimming with confidence after weigh in

Danny McIntosh is determined to upset the odds in London tomorrow night and capture the vacant British title by handing Welsh wizard Nathan Cleverly his first defeat. McIntosh, the reigning English Champion also holds an impressive undefeated record but he remains a 4/1 outsider ahead of the bout.

The Norwich man has promised to make a mockery of those odds at the York Hall, Bethnal Green when he headlines the Hennessy Sports card. The event is live on ITV4’s Big Fight Live from 8pm and McIntosh is relishing the opportunity to shine in front of the cameras.

“There’s going to be an awful lot of people with egg on their face after tomorrow night,” predicted McIntosh. “I’ve every confidence in my ability and there’s been plenty of hype about him being the next Joe Calzaghe but when he gets in that ring the hype will disappear and he’ll be faced with the reality.

“I know a lot of people are picking against me but that just puts all the pressure on him. I know what I’m capable of. I’ve worked really hard for this fight and I know that the British title is coming back with me to Norwich.”

Doors open at the York Hall tomorrow night at 6pm with the boxing commencing at 6:30. ITV4’s Big Fight Live coverage starts at 8pm and runs until 11pm.

Watched Mcintosh close in the last few fights the lad has a tasty punch but he hasnt faced enough quality before this fight for me . But having said that Im going to put a few quid on him to beat Cleverley by knockout.

i'm surprised the star warren fighter has gone from apparently fighting montell griffin for a vacant whatever title or the right to challenge for the WBO (fight was never announced but was rumoured), to fighting a british prospect on a hennessy card.

clev is a loyal warren fighter, had regular work on FFN mismatches where he was knocking over africans, then gets lined up for eventual world honours...now he has a touhg fight on a hostile promotion. did he do something to upset wazza? or is it just because cleverly isn't a draw, isn't particularly exciting, isn't a big attraction and because - at the end of the day - there are bigger investments to take care of... perhaps in this recession we may see more guys being risked on hostile shows, meaning good fighters from different promoters actually fighting each other.

clev will win easily enough round 4 i predict, its for the vacant british crown and clevs commonwealth belts isnt it? im pretty sure the fight was mandated and they couldnt get anything better for clev at the time
