Re: Tyson Fury's opponent this Saturday....
Yes it did peter out but I remember people have him stick about his matchmaking right from day one, conveniently forgetting his main rivals Danny Williams, John McDermott and Herbie Hide fought at nothing like the same level in their novice stages. Not even Lewis did, as pointed out earlier, and no US contemporaries of Audley's did either.
While Audley ultimately did not succeed, I said at the time and I'll insist even now that he had a very, very solid apprenticeship.

Tyson Fury's first 6 fight (in reverse order): All wins inside the distance
Scott Belshaw 10-1-0
Mathew Ellis 20-6-1
Lee Swaby 23-22-2
Daniil Peretyatko 15-20-0
Marcel Zeller 21-3-0
Bela Gyongyosi 3-9-2
Combined record: 92-61-5
Lennox Lewis:
Greg Gorrell 21-7-0
Melvin Epps 14-19-1
Steve Garber 13-10-1
Andrew Gerrard 11-30-5
Bruce Johnson 5-10-1
Al Malcolm 11-12-1
Combined record: 75-88-9
His first six fight record stacks up okay against our best heavyweight ever.
The brits are ok but its always the same bringing in foreign imports....the last 3 on Fury's are a joke.

I just hope that Fury stays in decent shape between fights, he said last night he wasn't happy with his fitness and had no sparring for the fight, which isn't good.
Sparring partners can't be that hard to find, can they?
Guess it depends on what they are offered in pay.

I actually think that he has been over matched if anything. What level of fighter would you expect him to be fighting in his first few fights as a pro?
