He fought to an amazing game plan. His chin/temple appears much better at 140 (OK, OK, even though Kotelnik is a light puncher). Brilliant fight from Khan. I didn't think he could do it. I'm happy for him.

Deserved the win but imo not answered the real questions about whether he can take big shots or if his own shots are strong enough.

I'm convinced he's just beaten Kotelnik (arf!).

For my money, he'd beat Maidana the same way (but I admit my money would probably be at risk as long as the Argie was on his feet swinging) -- as I've said before, the Kotelnik-Madaina fight was competitive but crap, two lads a long way below actual elite level -- despite a certain boring git of this parish telling everyone who'd listen that it was the equivalent of Zale-Graziano, Chavez-Taylor & Balboa-Lang.

I am also convinced I was massively right all along about this fight, & am currently basking in the warm afterglow of self-satisfaction.

But they were not the questions posed this evening, dearie, nor were they ever likely to be facing Kotelnik apart from in the minds of the embittered &/or delusional (& you know who you are, you scamps you!). The question this evening was "Can he beat Kotelnik"?

The answer to that was "Yes".

The questions you are posing would only be answered in some kind of bizarre "Roll-up & hit me to see if I can take big shots" fairground booth thing. Which would be weird.

caught most of the fight.

Roach has done absolute wonders with him. I've never seen a boxer follow instructions so intently.

Khan has given up on trying to be a boxer / puncher and has reverted to his strength, speed.

It won't make him fun to watch but could win him a lot of fights.

His superlative display this evening does not erase the proven weakness he has in the chin dept. Everyone on this forum knows what a contrary prawn you are, so I'll not bother debating that point. I just hope for his sake (as I think he's a good guy) that it's not borne out.

I'm suprised you didn't think that Khan could beat Kotelnik........why ?

All you had to do was look at Kotlenik for two minutes to see that Khan was made for him. The only problem that Khan could have encountered was if his stamina would have slowed from say the 6th or 7th round or if he decided to be stupid and have a war with Kotelnik. He always had the measure of Kotelnik, because of his hand speed and movement, plus the fact that Kotlenik has no punching power at all. Let's face it, that is why he was picked as an opponent and Khan moved up a weight division, rather than facing hard punching world champions in the lightweight division. If Khan had faced a harder punching fighter, even with the limited amount of punches that Kotelnik threw, he would no doubt have been stopped, it was only because Kotelnik has no power that Khan was able to absorb those solid right and left hands, not because this higher weight class suits him.

Hope he fight Maidana next as i think he could outbox him and maybe even stop him as he is quite open to be hit and Roach will easily figure out a gameplan to beat him and Khan will execute it masterful double team
