mate he was getting shit kicked out of him from the first bell he hardly layed a glove on khan.

MAB is more shot that JFK fella it was kinda sad to see as one of my fave fighters is MAB btu he looked old and past it. With or withouth cut.

Also one suggests if you go into a fight only 6 weeks after being cut in your last outing, its rather pisspoor to blame this performance on a cut. No robbery an old fighter getting beat up and blaming it on a convenient excuse.

MAB has been finished for over 18 months mate.

i just think he would ot ahve doen that against a diaz or a Romovou . he just a flashy cocky git. Who still today belives his own hype. i dont think khan is world class until i see a match between khan and romovou or Katidis and ko's them or wins by points. if he cant past them then pack your bags. coz no chance in hell can he cope with daiz ,guzman ,peterson or marquez.

Good performance from Khan. He stepped up - in class, in weight - and grew up and looked good.

Really disappointed with Kotelnik. I thought he would have a better plan, I thought he would try to counter the counters, time Khan when he threw the volleys. These champs who "sell" their titles, you'd think they'd come prepared. Obviously Khan had a lot to do with what Kotelnik couldn't do. It was interesting to see Khan being the man who landed the hurtful body shots.

In all an organized, solid performance. I wouldn't say exceptional, I wouldn't necessarily say future p4p material. He looks better as a light welter, for sure. At lightweight he was a Herbie Hide. Kotelnik must have thouhgt the single shots he was landing now and again would stop Khan.

There was a weird bit in the middle of the fight. Khan sort of sagged forward, drunkenly. He started leaning forward weirdly, for seemingly no reason. And Kotelnik didn't even pounce. The ex champ needed more urgency.

Khan-Maidana? Maidana has horrendous footwork but big power. Or did Kotelnik secure a rematch clause or did the kings ransom he undoubtedly got suffice?

Good day for the bad guys, to borrow a title from a Peter Mullan short film. the investment of "ol fish eyes", as they call him, paid off. sky get to fvck us some more.

Im not arguing with you after that fight dont think he will be the best p4p but he will be top 10 very impressive and moving up was a clever move his chin is better because his legs are stronger and he can absorb a punch better

Silly thread...........An awful lot of boxers are going to have to retire for Khan to be deemed a p4p fighter

Khan is just 22, is world champ, and has names like barrera, Kotelnik under his belt.

3 years obviously not, but in the near future, why not?

Because he has no power at light-welter, where he will have to operate, now that he is getting older and the fact that he has a glass chin. His overall style can be improved and he can operate at world level if his opponents are hand picked, as was the case with Kotelnik, but he would lose to any elite lightweight or light-welter or welterweight. I belive that any fighter with movement speed and punching power at world level would beat Khan. The Barrera fight was a joke. Barrera is washed up and shot to pieces and anyone saying otherwise is deluded. That fight should have been stopped in the second round, because Barrera's eye injury got no worse after the second round, but the referee waited until after the fourth round to stop the fight, because only then could Khan be awarded the fight on points....disgraceful !!

Just watched the Fagan fight and although it was short he's looking allot more professional, technically more sound and a better puncher. Khan's shown a load of teething problems but he looks willing to learn and he has some of the best physical attributes in the sport.

 Are you for real!! Barrera was a natural super bantamweight (8st10) at the start ofhis career, he was a natural super featherweight (9st4) at the end of his career and way past it, that win will go down as nothing to Kahn in history, anyone who understands the sport knows Barrera was a shadow of himself....and having Kotelinik under his belt to raise his claim for top 10 P4P? come on, are you serious?! Khan is very fortunate to be able to all him self 'a world champ'. I wonder if he'll be a true champ and what P4P fighters are made of and try and reverse his defeat?! Lets see Khan call this guy out...I'll have respect for him if he does

Khan may be a top 10 p4p at some stage of his career, but his lack of chin will mean he does it the hard way, Khan can beat anyone at Light Welter but he can also loose to anyone, it depends how his cards are dealt, but it's clear his chin will be exposed in the future it just depends when it happens.

Look at Wlad for example we all know if you hit him on the chin he is gone, but he has made a career out of making this damn near impossible Khan may well be the same .

Credit where it's due, Khan did the business against Kotelnik. To me that was his first legitimate win over a world class operator, the one that answered a lot of questions and the one tha should rightfully propel him on to bigger things.
The Barrera fight, "victory" and aftermath was a disgrace and to me epitomises a lot of what is wrong with boxing. To say Khan stopped a world class Barrera is only as legitimate as saying Khan was genuinely floored by Rachid Drilzane. Time will allow people to forget the details surrounding the occurence, both statements are technically "true" but to me all they do is show how people can shift perception to suit an agenda.
Khan is a talented kid and on his day could beat anyone I think. To reach genuine P4P status he would have to face all the legitimate contenders around him. Taking the path of least resistance will make him a shed load of cash, make him look a super talent but it won't earn him P4P status in my opinion. To achieve this will take risk, will FW allow Khan to take these risks to enhance his legacy, or will we be looking back in years to come on a wealthy fighter doing the the after dinner circuit and wondering "what if?"

Definately, as did a lot of people on this board (me included). I think Khan and Roach would definately take the Maidana fight - both of them were at the Maidana v Ortiz fight and Khan commented after that he was 'inspired' by Maidana to train 'twice as hard in the gym.'

Would love to see it happen and would be an excellent opportnity for Khan to banish his Prescott demons (given that a rematch with Prescott is unikely now) against one of the genuine punchers at 140lbs.

Bring on Marquez and all his problems with boxers and speed and suckerability for the left hand :DD
Marquez, Pacman and Barrera are naturally lighter weight fighters and the Barrera that boxed Khan was a shadow of himself who boxed Pacman and Marquez. I bet Paman, Marquez and Barrera would give Prescott a tougher time than Khan did. Just because Barrera has given class fighters more problems than he did Khan dosn't mean a thing, timing and natural weight has an effect, are you saying that this Khan would beat a Barrera of say 5 - 10 years ago?! ....If you do your seriously delusioned!

A win over the likes of Bradley/Alexander seals the deal, probably needs to stay away from Alexander, a Bradley fight is a close call, but Bradley had problems with Holts rangyness and Amir is better

Lightweight is the best of the divisions even if he wins this can he beat

Juan Diaz
Nate Campbell
Edwin Valero
Juan Manuel Marquez
Julio Diaz
Michael Katsidis
Yuri Romanov
Joel Casamayor

I think not
What difference 18months makes, does anyone think Juan Diaz is better than Khan now, I've been saying for 24months Khan has the style to beat him, he hasnt but hes dominated the man who beat him. 18months ago people would say Campbell/Diaz would murder Amir, now it would be seen as cynical match making.

Valero dead, Romanov semi-retired, Katsidis shown up as a tough gatekeeper, Nate Campbell and Casamayor past it.

Victor Ortiz would knock him out, though PN.

I've been saying that since the Maidana fight. The Argie is too slow/swingy for Khan, but I think Ortiz is strong enough & quick enough to box with him (or at least not get steamrollered) & one punch flush on the chin from Ortiz is all it would take, I fear, particularly if Amir gets to the rushing, falling-over-himself stage when he lets go with both hands (like he was doing in the mid-rounds last night). & whoever hits harder out of Alexander/Bradley will beat him, too -- not, not necessarily the one out the pair of them who is the best boxer or fighter, but whoever turns out to be the harder hitter. To beat a guy like Khan you have to flatten him -- he's like Mark Breland.

I still want to see it, though, & good luck to the kiddie Amir.

exactly. things change, something that ppl on forums seem to have little comprehension or foresight for.

khan did well vs malignaggi, an awkward foe, and it was good to see a brit make a successful US debut. for me it was hardly "stunning" as the yahoo sports have called his performance. it was a very accomplished piece of left handed boxing. khan's jab really was excellent and it absolutely jolted the head of malignaggi, making the new yorker look like he was going to be sick.

the fight was basically khan doing a very good job. it wasn't some virtuoso performance, for instance. it was a one-handed piece of boxing. khan only tried body shots in 1 round, and his right hand didn't look very good. he reminded me a bit of virgil hill, freddie roach's first success story as a trainer. hill was hardly amazing, but he was very successful - thanks to having good legs and a fine jab, if nothing else.

WTF was wrong with malignaggi?

all he wanted to do was go behind khan and hit him in the back of his head.

very poor from paulie, who indeed looked "poorly" after taking a few hard jabs.

i thought malignaggi was supposed to be "back and better than ever", after the juan diaz fights. but it seems he has learned nothing, since the hatton beating, a similar fight to khan-malignaggi.

Top 10 lb 4 lb doesnt seem such a long shot now , a win over maidana and bradley/alexander would possibly get him in the top 10 , if not he will be a win away no matter who he fights , maybe if he beats the above names then calls out and beats prescott to confirm hes improved etc then most people will accept hes become a top 10 , but i think were looking a year down the line still , anything can happen in a year , PN - be sure to bump this up again in the future .

Someone who needs to, in the words of one of his biggest nuthuggers, "stay away" from a P4P nonentity like Alexander (who is at best borderline top 30), hasn't much chance of a P4P top 10 ranking.
