Alexander vs Farnell... Can it happen?

I see this as an option for Alexander. Farnell may be tempted to move back down to lm, he seriously needs a big fight after his last loss, what better than a high profile grudge match with Alexander. he'll have seen Alexander being stopped recently and of course being hurt by Takaloo so it must have crossed his mind.

Do you think this could happen?

If it did, who would you fancy?

Alexander KO 1 in my opinion, but you never know. It would be a good build-up though.

i wouldn't say no. Farnell is looking to campaign at 11st now, correct? if so, yeah shouldn't be hard to make. Obviously i'd like to see Richard Williams involved in this mix....unlikely though.

Call me biased - But Richard Williams is the one to beat WA.

WA himself said the only one who can give him any trouble is Richard.

Would be a great fight but RW wpuld stop him in a great fight !..

If RW stays at Lt Middle - great fight !

Risky for both, imo.

Sent him a text a few weeks ago as I was interested toi know and so were others on another forum - he said he is back in gym and getting back in shape - will see where his body takes him re: weight to come back at.. I think he mentioned October time !

Be good to see him in the ring again !

I'm pretty sure Wayne was floored and it was a pretty close fight.

Amateur results dont mean much in the pros, Pinto beat Cotto twice in the amateurs but got savaged by him at the weekend!!

Wayne forced a standing count and hit the deck himself!

Wayne reckons the standing count saved Williams but I am sure he is biased

Both super nice guys and along with Danny williams should be real role models for the youth around their areas... sadly the youngsters prefer 2pac and all those other wanna be gangstas!!!!

Good decent pro fighters who are never in the news ( trade papers) for rubbish etc !

I'll reply to the original question and say that there is no way Farnell should be allowed in the ring with WA. What has he done to earn the right? Farnell should not be allowed to to box for his own protection.

The way fights have been going lately i wouldnt rule out Farnell grabbing a KO....no offence to WA...but he still looks fragile.

Then maybe he'll get a rematch with Takaloo, get beaten again, and then Tak will be a three time world champ.

I'd pick Alexander over Farnell, but as with the weekend's fight, it would be a case of whoever lands first. Alexander looks like he can be hurt so easily, and that's been the case for some time. He may well be too good for Farnell, but i wouldn't be surprised if he had to climb up off the deck to win.

I'm not sure i'd back him against Williams though. Williams may have slipped since the illness, but he's still very technically correct. I'd bank on him landing something big before Alexander could. Add that to the fact he's smart enough not to go racing in if he managed to hurt Alexander, and you've got a KO win for Williams.

Farnell is not a massive puncher, so I doubt he could just clock Alexander with one shot he'd need to wear him down over a number of rounds. The chances of that happening without him getting levelled are slim to none.

exactly!!!!

Alexander has been wobbled/dropped by big explosive punchers like Ojay and Delroy Mellis....
Ojay was pure careless and Mellis it was the 8th round and Wayne was knackered.

You couldn't totally write off Farnell's chances against one so clearly beatable as Alexander, but come fight night it would be hard not to predict a KO win for Wayne.

Farnell may not be a massive puncher, and i agree he's not going to put Alexander over with one shot, but he still has enough of a punch to hurt him. If he doesn't rush in like Tak did, then he could put Alexander over. I really don't think that it'll take a sustained effort for Farnell to win, i've believed Alexander to be a very faded fighter for a while now, and my opinion hasn't changed since the weekend. Yes it was a good win, but i'll still give fighters who previously weren't good enough, a chance to beat him.

Farnell is at middleweight though I doubt he can make 154 anymore.

Yes Farnell isn't as good as he was, and he really wasn't that good to begin with either. However i'm not sure that there are any straight forward fights for Alexander anymore. As i said, i think he'll stop Farnell, but i wouldn't be overcome with surprise if it went the other way.

And yes, i was under the impression that Farnell had moved up because he couldn't make the weight anymore. So i wouldn't put any money on this fight ever happening.

Wayne is targetting a shot at Santos I think. Its a big ask but one shot on the whiskers could knock Santos out he's been floored by lesser punchers.
