Cleverley looked sensational. haven't seen him in the flesh before.

his handspeed, fluidity, ring awareness, accuracy, all looked elite level to me.

I'll put it this way, he impressed me more than Froch did the first time I saw him in the flesh and fighting at a similar level.

EBU title is held by Juergen Braehmer, who is a toughman and would need paying well to come out of Germany to fight here.
Maybe to much of a risk at this moment for Cleverly, i'm sure he'd be willing to take on Braehmer, but not so sure his management would want the fight.

There are not alot of names on the europeon circuit that mean to much on the world scene, and it will be hard trying to sell British title defenses, as his already beaten Oakey and McIntosh. The rest of the lightheavys in the UK are a bit behind these guys.

You know on FNF i saw Chris Henry beat Shaun George, and he looked tough but beatable. That wouldn't be a bad match against a rated fighter for Cleverly.
Let Tony Bellew have a fight or two before throwing him in with him, would be a interesting match up.

Cleverly has a lot going for him and I thoroughly enjoyed the fight but lest we forget Danny McIntosh is a naive 29 year old who stuck his chin out and didn't throw a jab all night. I thought his performance was gutsy but plain stupid.

Cleverly dropped a few too low without being reprimanded I thought, but McIntosh was too intent on showing he could stand there rather than boxing.

To jump from Oakey, McIntosh to Tarver, Woods and Dawson as one person has suggested strikes me as deluded.

However, I'm not suggesting anyone hold him back until he's 35-0 and 27.

I suspect someone else may do that though.

Keep him away from Tavoris Cloud. That guy can fight.

I would like to see Cleverly have a go against a top European fighter like Erdei, to see how he makes the transition.

He looked great Cleverly did, McIntosh ain't at that level yet managed to draw Clev into a trading war!! I just hope they keep Cleverly away from a serious puncher at this weight!! He is far too easily drawn into a fight, The division I agree is weak BUT there are still some serious punchers at this weight and even though Chris Henry is a bit prone to going down the guy can seriosly whack!! As for Tavouris Cloud that's a NO GO!! He'll beat Woods and he'll stop Cleverly!! Like I said he done great on Saturday but let's not forget he beat Danny McIntosh who just ain't at that level, Be interesting to see were Cleverly goes from here!!

I just wanna get this next fight out the way an 8 rounder in September and then anoher 1 in October/November and I'll happily accomodate anyone in Britian!! THAT INCLUDES CLEVERLY TOO!! I can't wait to step up a level and fight the longer rounds, It'll be interesting to see what happens I feel..

i said clev would win in round 6 i was out by 1min 31 secs, he wanst fighting tomato cans and i dont think mcintosh was a big puncher (4wins early out of 10 doesnt point big puncher to me) the guy is tallented as hell he can go all the way as long as fwank promotes him right and doesnt let him go in as the away fighter like he did. fwank should do a small friday fight on sky with clevery and kell brook as the main events

fair play bomber, i'd want to see you take on someone on Oakey's/Spartacus type level before i would say you had 'justified' a shot at cleverley, not sure if a couple of 8 rounders against 'the usual suspects' would do it for me mate :TU:

maybe even take on McIntosh seeing as how he likes to trade and all?

Full respect to both Cleverly and McIntosh. They both played their part in an exciting scrap. It was great to see unbeaten guys so hyped up and ready to go.

Cleverly proved he was the better man by some distance, but what bottle from McIntosh. The pair of them are credit to British boxing.

by the way:

(1) i heard Danny was supposed to be all kinds of wan***. with that in mind his classy and honest interview after the fight was a breath of fresh air, to hear him just give Cleverley credit and not make any silly excuses was great well done Danny :TU:

(2) bomber- any ideas who you would like in your next couple of outings to get you ready for the cleverley's of this world.

I agree with you there mate, I can't expect to jump the que after an 8 rounder, I would love the McIntosh or Spartacus fight!! I just wanna fight where people say hey this is a good match and 1 I think Bellew could lose!! People are raving on Clev at the min and rightly so as he's looking great BUT give it time and you'll see the best of me. I won't dodge no one an will accomodate everyone. :TU:

I'd also like to say that McIntosh showed what a decent guy he was the way he took that defeat! I thought he'd say something completly different to what he did so credit to him for that! It's just a shame he doesn't like scousers in tracksuits...

Im just itching for a good fight..

Im fighting in September,(October/November) & December providing I stay fit and well!!

Cleverly's been down, right, against Vegas? According to someone he also should've had a L for that fight.

top man cheers bomber :TU:

you said before and i agree, i don't think you would be the right man for McIntosh to stand in front of with his chin in the air.

by the way i think McIntosh is very much an either/ or fighter.

Either he's on top and throwing bombs coming forward, but if he's not on top he seems to go into a shell. he isn't bad defensively, when he is thinking about defence, but when he's thinking about defence he seems to get VERY negative.

i don't think he is rounded enough to both throw good shots AND stay out of trouble. personally, i think if he goes into his shell he can be dominated and broken down by jab and bodywork. if he is aggressive, tuck up, take a step back, and throw the right hand down the pipe :TU:

easy this boxing lark isn't it?

Yes Dioufy mate Clev was down against Vegas..

The boxing side is easy mate, It's the training with 4 eyes (Arnie) that kills me. Barrera put the blue print out on how to beat an Ingle fighter, Without being disrespectful, You follow that and it shouldn't be a problem..

Sorry but I think thats rubbish and overly simple. The Ingle style (if thats what you want to call it) has advntages just like any style, however, it is all depndant on the quality of the fighter. Too easy to say that just cos Naseem lost to Barrera on points that the an unorthodox style coached by Ingle can now never be successfull. Naseem exemplifies just how successful it can be, though at the end of the day, it required Naseems raw talent and power to realise it. One thing that Ingle does give his fighters is confidence and showmanship. This for me is a key point. I remember seeing a documentary years ago about Ingle and his gym; he had all the children sit in a circle and each one had to have a turn at doing something entertaining like sing a few lines. he placed emphasis on increasing confidence and a desire to entertain. So when you get one of his fighters who is also very talented, you have a very marketable prospect.

His fighters fight with there arms by there sides!! 1 in every 50 will get somewhere with that style, You'll get found out by a decent jab and decent power!! Ingle is great for kids and raising self confidence but as a boxing trainer I can't agree!! His kids have good footwork BUT you just can't fight with your arms by your sides!! Kell Brook,Naz,Nelson and Graham are fantastic fighters he's produced but look at the rest!! Kell and Ryan Rhodes I feel were brought along by other trainers I personally feel.

Im not saying it's easy BUT I am sayin if you have 2 guys of similar level and 1 of them is an Ingle fighter I'll back good money on the other guy coming through, There defence is there reflexes and that is just not good enough for when you step up a level, Just how Timothy Bradley proved when he boxed Junior Witter!! Witter's defence is what lost him that fight cos we all know he has a good offence!! It was the exact same story with Naz and Barrera..

I will say Kell Brook will be different cos if you watch him which I have been for many years he has a cute defence and does keep his hands up while also using his body and reflexes to avoid punches!! Something which the Ingles did not teach him..

I wouldn't say it was a bad one to be totally honest but it was legit to be fair to Vegas and had he put his foot on the gas and gave it everything then he'd have had his hand raised..Instead he chose to just make it close and box on the back foot, His defence troubled Clev to honest.. I also spoke to Clev to be fair and I think he clearly underestimated Vegas!! I sparred with Vegas just before the fight too so knew what he was capable of going in!! He ain't a bad fighter is Joey!!

I really like what I see from Cleverly so far.. He's got plenty of talent, improving power and good movement.

I'm sure any hot-headedness will calm as he gets a little older, but at this moment and time, I'd be quietly confident of him winning a World Title (if he continues to improve), in the coming years.

His defence is far improved since he left Ingles..I'll say yes they made him BUT the Rhodes today and the Rhodes of the past are 2 different men.. He was blowing people away with power early in his career but now seems to methodically break fighters down with a good jab and a good defence while applying educated pressure were as before it was hands by sides and Im gonna flatten you all the way.. Just a shame Ryan has had a few years in the wilderness cos I really believe given the opportunity he'll be a world champion.

Ryan was 1 of favourite fighters growing up he really was and his footwork is a bit special but I think he has improved since moving on IMO.. Nothing against the Ingles cos Hamed went backwards when he left them for Suarez and Steward.. He was never the same fighter BUT I suppose it was money that done that to him too..
