Saunders Stoppage- shocking!

Come on! Matt Scriven is tough, experience, and above all was fighting back!

A Referee shouldn't stop a fight just because a boxer was in a corner!

Who was reffing this?

Scriven can't work now for 6 weeks- could cost him £2000 in missed work.

When Buckley was stopped by Naz, it meant about £3000 in lost earnings.

He will have taken that fight fully expecting what happened, and I'm pretty sure he will have be paid more than what he could of earned in the next 6 months for it.

Scriven did seem to fire back with some good shots, after a strong volley from Saunders. Then Saunders threw a couple, which didn't seem to do any great damage, and it was waved off.

Scriven is good enough to get out of that kind of position.

Only gonna be one winner but it was bogus in my view. Scriven threw the last shot. BJ is the least impressive of the Olympian for me and I o worry for him if he starts to belive his papaer record so far is a true reflection of what he has in his fists

Fearn does post here, I got the impression he was impressed with Gavin.

When a guy has been down twice, often a stoppage is the right decisions.

That said, why did the ref give a count, only to immediatly wave the fight off when Fearn got up? He had clearly already made his decision.

Its funny but if he had just dispensed with the count adter the 2nd knockdown I wouldnt be saying shit but dont give a guy a count if you don't want him to carry on

Same ref did the same thing with Mark Nillson vs Matty Askin and the bell had gone at six he was on his feet at five he counted to out then waved it off.

Regardless of the stoppage - Saunders is going to do very well for himself - I like his style and he is not getting the headlines and thus the bullsh*t the others are getting and can get on with the job.

But a least he can fight again .Seen Matt box lots of times and he does take a lot of shots he might be tough and all that but as you know it only takes one shot and he was starting to get beat up

Saunders boxed at supermiddle weight...........he seems a bit small theres some big middleweights out there i no he boxed at 69kg in olympics will he be boxing at that weight??????????????

I'm expecting Saunders to have some harder fights because of his style compared with the other olympians, i did like his body shots, but i'm maybe leaning towards him having the first 'O' to go.

It's early doors, but I can see this sort of route until they have had at least 10-12 fights, so 2012!

I think most the olympians (not just Warren's) have been gifted perhaps a little too early stoppage in most their fights. I know they were guaranteed to win those fights but it still denies the paying public. Hopefully when they step up a bit refs will be less likely to jump in at the first sign of a flurry.

Its not the olympians fault thereselves they can only do whats infront of them. Been impressed by all of them so far stuggling to decide who I think will do best, Jeffries and BJ Saunders have impressed me most.

That is true.

Hard one to call, in some cases, as if a fighter is being outclassed then it can be a good stoppage. But even so, it IS a boxing match, after all.

No chance mate, The first body shot that Fearn went down from was right round the back of the elbow and he was still in pain when he got up!! It was then that he started to cover his body and punches were bouncing off his head and chin, Just as the ref was about to come on Frankie hit him with a another sickener body shot and he went down!! When he went down the ref was about to wave it off and had a good look at him thought about it but must have looked into his eyes and seen that he didn't want anymore!! Fearn didn't protest and barely landed a punch on Frankie..

I agree with you Frankie looked great!! I said when he get's someone who'll attack him you'll really see the best of him, He's the hardest thing I've ever seen to hit, There's so many stories I could tell you mate,

This is a quick one, Aydin Selchuk was a fantastic amatuer and won tons of medals for his country Turkey and is now a very succesful pro in Germany! He boxed Frankie at the Europeans and Frankie sent him that wild cos he couldn't hit him that he threw him on the floor and punched him in the back of the head, Frankie was winning about 6-0 at the time and the ref eneded up DQ'ing Selchuk at which point he was going so crazy cos of Frankie he went for ther ref,his coach and kicked a 20litre tub of water about 5 ft in the air.It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in boxing.Even the coach was that angry he cracked the ref too!! This was a world medalist,european medalist and a knockout specialist on the am scene too, He was a top class am and Frankie made him go completly off his rocker..

Frankie is almot impossible to nail when he relaxes and get's going and the better the opponent the more you'll see this.
