I agree with what Evs is saying above he won't win the tournament BUT I admire him for going in it and I believe even if he don't do that well he'll walk away with at least $7 Mil?? Allegedly???
I think he'll spark Dirrell but get beat off Kessler and Ward and then Abraham too.. :(
I'd love him to win it though it'd be massive for british boxing..
I just hope that Froch is injury free for tis bout because I could really do without the Martyrdom that seems to follow every fight recently. Froch winning despite havng one hand, no ears, one eye, 6 broken ribs, swine flu, repeat ad nauseum
As for this fight. I seen Dirrell a few times and physically he looks to have the lot. If his whiskers hold up he could run away with it on the cards. Now that Froch has been dropped and hurt by a respectable but by no means knockout puncher perhaps Dirrell's shots might keep Froch honest through the contet. However if I'm betting on it - which I will be - I've got to go with Froch stoppage late in something that kind of errors the Taylor fight
It's good to hear that Froch has been watching Dirrell's fights. It was a bit worrying when he said that he doesn't study his opponents. Calzaghe said the same thing before getting dropped by Hopkins and having a hard time with his style.
I'll take Froch by tko around round ten. But I don't say that with a great deal of confidence - Dirrell is a talent for sure, fast hands and decent footwork. But if you watch the Oganov fight you'll see he isn't a big puncher, he hit Oganov with everything and the kitchen sink and still couldn't floor him. Froch definitely has the power edge but then again he will do against most guys in the division. I agree with Gomez that it wasn't the best of Froch we saw against Taylor and he still got the job done. I felt he was kind of asleep for the first few rounds - like a deer caught in the headlights but took over in the latter stages - and sure Taylor tired but Froch was also bringing the pressure which contributed to Taylor's demise.
I'm not sure I've seen Dirrells chin tested either. Unbeaten fighters who haven't mixed in top class yet are always a bit of an unknown quantity.
hmmmmm read the full article on eastsideboxing..Dirrell is clearly trying to get under froch's skin..saying he is not a true world champion..and also claims that froch will be his easiest fight in the tournament.he thinks kessler will be his hardest. If dirrell underestimates froch like this the boy is in big trouble in my opinion..he has only done 10 rounds once and hasn't fought anybody world class..which doesn't look good..he is flashy with fast hands..but has he got the stamina..chin..the will too go a hard 12 rounds with froch..I can see dirrell being put under alot of pressure and the cobra will wear him down late on and knock him out..dirrell certainly talks a good game and is a very bright prospect
ive never saw Dirrell box , but im of the feeling that Froch will not far from losing in one of his fights soon
Froch could be outworked and outboxed by decent operators , i think that war with Pascal may have taken a bit out of him
he didnt look good against Taylor untill the finish , be good to see him in with few of these good fighters though
can make him a big star if he wins this

One of these days Froch will get stood on his head.. but it wnt be by Dirrell. Just been catching up on some footage today and I dont fancy him in a 12 round fight

I agree some of the guys in the tourney with him will make him pay when he makes 1 of his to frequent mistakes Taylor made him look amauturish sometimes during there fight i think he needs to cut out the mistakes if he has any chance of winning this tourny
go on froch, punish the yank for saying that - give him his comeuppance, show him who the guv'nor is!
i see abraham as the fave to win the lot as he has the precsion, he has the defence, the has the accuracy and he has the experience (10 middleweight title fights) - and yet the best is apparently yet to come because he's moved up in weight.
but if abraham took a breather and shut up shop on the ropes, i have no doubt froch would find a way to batter through that guard and make AA work when he would perfer to rest. then again froch can be wide open to head and body, which would be disastrous v abraham. i think this would be the best fight in the tourney and i hope they end up squaring off in the final.
Unbeaten American star Andre “The Matrix” Dirrell has come out all guns blazing ahead of his Super Six showdown with WBC Super Middleweight Champ Carl Froch on October 17th.
Froch will have home advantage for the clash with promoter Mick Hennessy confirming that the fight will take place at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham with tickets for the event going on sale next week.
The bout takes place on the opening night of the Super Six World Boxing Classic, a groundbreaking new tournament which will ultimately crown the World’s best Super Middleweight and produce a strong candidate for the best pound for pound fighter on the planet.
Dirrell, an Olympic medallist from the Athens Games in 2004 has racked up 18 straight wins in the paid ranks and he’s dismissed Froch as the weakest in the Super Six line-up which also includes WBA champ, Mikkel Kessler, IBF Middleweight title holder Arthur Abraham, former Undisputed Middleweight champ Jermain Taylor and 2004 Olympic Gold medallist Andrew Ward.
“I begged to get Froch in my first fight,” revealed Dirrell. “He’s the guy I wanted. This is going to be my easiest fight. This is the fight where I’ll show off and look my best and that’s a guarantee. I’ll look my best there because he’s just that easy to hit and he’s slow.”
Dirrell is distinctly unimpressed with Froch despite the Nottingham man’s back to back fight of the year candidates in winning the WBC title against the unbeaten Jean Pascal last December and defending the belt in April with a dramatic final round KO over marquee American star Jermain Taylor.
“Froch only beat Jean Pascal because Pascal didn’t do his job and fought the wrong fight,” claimed Dirrell. “He fought Jermain Taylor and was losing to Taylor but got fortunate and knocked him out. Froch hasn’t really shown me anything. Honestly if you want to sit back and break it down he’s not really a true champion yet. If he can win this tournament then he’ll become a true champion but he’s not there yet.”
Although he travelled the world during a glorious amateur career Dirrell has yet to fight outside the U.S. as a pro. However he insists that crossing the Atlantic holds no fear for him and he will be looking to restore some American pride to the Super Middleweight division.
“Even before this series came about I wanted to go to the U.K. and beat Carl Froch for the WBC title and then go to Denmark and beat Mikkel Kessler for the WBA title because I want to make a statement to the American fans that we’re not down and out.
“My plan was always to go to Europe and bring those belts home because that’s the American way and I want to fulfil that to the fullest and this tournament gives me the opportunity to do just that and I know for certain that I will. I’m just super hungry because I know that these are the top guys to beat and I’m in a great position and I know that I’m going to come out of this victorious.”
The 26-year-old switch hitter from Flint, Michigan has no doubts that he has the quality to emerge victorious from the Super Six series. “My skill is outstanding, my will is unbearable and my physical strength and mental game are second to none,” claimed Dirrell. “I will beat World Champion after World Champion and that in turn will make me the best out there. That’s what I love about this tournament.”
Although he doesn’t hold Froch in high regard Dirrell appears to have far greater respect for his other European rivals in the Super Six series.
“Mikkel Kessler will definitely be the toughest fight for me and I love Arthur Abraham’s defence so he’ll be another tough opponent. He’s also going to be quicker than the other guys because he’s coming up from a smaller weight class.”
German based Abraham will also be in action on October 17th when he faces Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor in the American’s first fight since his dramatic defeat to Froch in Connecticut in April.
The final bout of the first stage of the Super Six round robin takes place on November 21st when Mikkel Kessler squares off against unbeaten American Andre Ward.
Direll says Froch is 'not really a true champion yet'... What does that make Dirrell? The guy has nothing on his record to match Froch's recent fights. If these comments are what Dirrell really thinks of Froch I think he's in for a shock. Dirrell has a decent chance against Froch, but he'd be stupid to take Froch lightly. He can talk all he wants about what Pascal and Taylor should've done when they fought Froch, but all that matters is what they did do.
It's 50/50 for me, completely based on Froch's wins over Taylor and Pascal. Dirrell has been in deeper than Pascal was before he fought Froch, with a little more experience, Pascal might've edged Froch. As highly as I rate Taylor, he's seemed mentally scarred since Hopkins, but still had Froch beaten before the last gasp KO. Dirrell's fresh and ready.
In Froch's favour, he has 24 rounds of the best experience you could ask for, and 2 victories against top level operators.
You just cant take shots the way Froch does at this level though, I dont care how good your chin is. Sooner or later, probably at some point within this tournament he'll be on the end of something he can't shrug off. Not saying it'll be Dirrell but he can certainly punch.
Froch has home advantage, the big fight experience, unmatched durability/stamina and if there are chinks in Dirrell's own, he'll be found out.
There's still a lot of uncertainty about where Dirrell fits into the grand scheme, it's hard to tell just how big the gulf between contender and champion is. Dirrell has had his poor moments, but then so had Pascal.
Think the home advantage will play a big part in this fight. There was about 9,000 froch fans in the trent fm arena for the pascal. There maybe more for the dirrell fight which will have him up for anything thats thrown at him. Would have liked to have seen how Taylor would have reacted to that if the tables were turned and they fought in nottingham.

i doubt the tables needed turning.id imagine it was a small crowd and the americans are not very vocal anyway,it certainly wont have been intimidating for froch anyway.or at least it shouldnt have been
I've seen Dirrell's fights against Oganov and Hanshaw, not particularly impressive. Fast hands but his footwork isn't the same, he also seems to lack great power and doesn't seem to like being put under pressure either.
The sort of fight that would give a few flashes against Carl but will be ground down and KO'ed.

50/50.
hmmmm i dont quite knw how you can say 50/50 fair enough it's your opinion but i would say 75/25 in favour of the cobra he has fought against world class..has great stamina..iron chin... dirrell has fast hands..has been as far as 10 rounds once! away from home.. and you say taylor has been mentally scarred since hopkins? he beat hopkins twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whats that all about dont you mean pavlik

trent fm arena only holds 7,000 in the future they are trying to get nottingham forest football ground which will hold 30,000+..shame they could only get trent fm arena for this fight
